Guest guest Posted January 10, 2008 Report Share Posted January 10, 2008 I hope that I do not confuse anyone with this convoluted question.. okay here goes...my dh uses two tubes of testim gel a day...When he gets his labs done..he does not use it that morning until after so as not to spike the test...so, my question is this..the number that is returned as his total testosterone level...is this his true level?, or his level without meds? will his levels vary from this..when he puts the gel on? Guest guest Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 The reason to test in the morning before applying the gel is to see how low his levels go down before he puts on the med or does his shot. If this number is to low this is when we feel worse. The levels going up never make one feel bad it's the level coming down if it goes to low we feel symptoms. If on the other hand the levels are above the top of the range doing this then the does needs to be adjusted. After putting on the gel in the next 4 to 6 hrs his levels will go up very high for some over the top of the range. This is only for a shot time then it comes down and is kept at a good level for up to 24 hrs. I kept getting scores between 100 and 300 for months using the gel to no avail. I kept having the symptroms too. There is the probability that the gel won't work for you. If you continue to have symptoms you may need to switch to shots. Either way, if your therapy isn't working try another therapy. When he was first tested his total level was 180..he began on the gel and at his second test ( which he unknowingly spiked by using the gel BEFORE the test) his levels wer colse to 900..then this last time..he did not use the gel before the test and his levels were in the mid 400's... He feels great..has no mood or anxiety problems anymore and a great lebidio ( he usually wants sex 3 times a day now)..so I guess for now, the gel is working..I just had a question as to how to interpret the results.
