From what I can see, his testosterone is very low for a 19 year old, can any of

you see anything in these labs that may be causing that? He is low for B12 and

Vit.D. Is 30 for estradiol too high? I thought Phil liked 20. We do have DIM and

Nettle Root.

I am a thyroid patient, labs aren't that bad except his reverse T3 is high and

his ratio is way under 20 (11.5). He does not take thyroid meds. Maybe the

reverse T3 is high because of stress from college and a delayed summer break

(still in school taking summer classes washing out an " F " in Calculus 2..... he

got As in everything else).

His cholesterol seems too low (according to Dr. Mercola), and his blood pressure

was 100/60 at the doctor's office.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

SC

total test is fairly low as are other test parameters. I am not an expert but

Phil and others are; this is a good source!

general questions

1. How does he feel?

2. Is he muscular?

3. masculine? beard? body hair?? deeper voice?

4. Was his puberty onset about right (age 12-15)?

5. Hard to ask about libido but I bet it is ok.

I defer to Phil per usual cause he is " the man "

I don't feel he has a problem his Testosterone was the blood taken early in the

morning when levels are the highest. He could use some V-D and B-12 I take 5

2000 IU drops every morning (Bio D-Mulsion Forte)

and get some B-12 lozenges

http://www.mccombsplanstore.com/prodinfo.asp?number=BIOD

If your son gets involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid

Eye Movement) sleep then leave his Estradiol as is.

Here is a good read about Testosterone from WebMD.

http://men.webmd.com/testosterone-15738

The mean level for his age is about 585 done first thing in the morning a mans

Testosterone reaches it's highest levels by age 40. So I don't feel he has a

problem unless he is not feeling well. Watch these Videos.

Phil,

His blood was taken at 8 am. He is fatigued, low energy, scattered, bad mood,

not very social, low self confidence. His friend put it best, said it was his

" state. " It seems the worst when he has a lot of demands on him (in school) and,

strangely, when he has too much time on his hands. But if testosterone isn't

the problem, we will keep looking. He also seems to do better when he can get

exercise. He does have to eat high protein pretty often, or he gets cranky.

Would the low B12 and D be enough to cause this?

Thanks,

SC

I feel if one has some things low on labs fixing them helps one feel better

watch this video on Low V.-D.

http://www.uvadvantage.org/portals/0/pres/

Some men low on B-12 need shots to get levels back up talk to his Dr. about this

you can get a script for B-12 and do the shots him self.

Give doing this some time 3 months have him get some exercise and eat a good

diet stress can lower ones Testosterone on top of having low V-D and B-12.

He is to young to have problems of going on TRT with levels like his best to

keep an eye on it and do a life style change.

Hi,

well a lot of guys here would like to have test levels that good... but we're

over 50 :-}

> From what I can see, his testosterone is very low for a 19 year

> old, can any of you see anything in these labs that may be causing > that? He

20. We do have DIM and Nettle Root.

now we get to " what does the patient say and what do they NOT say? "

ok we have a mom getting an endo workup for her son... they've got DIM and

Nettle Root around the house... low b12.

are you by chance hippy vegetarians :-} (and is he skinny/slim?)

that would fit... soy (tofu, soymilk, tempeh, etc) provides some plant estrogens

along with it's protein... maybe enough to push down his test levels... and a

vegetarian diet has NO B-12 and that would explain the low B12 and given your

basic late teen's diet I doubt he's getting much in the way of real nutrition

(you can't live on cokes and bar-b-que chips)

I'd prescribe 2 grandparent's cures.

THESE ARE NOT MEAL REPLACEMENTS. EAT IN ADDITION TO 3 SQUARES.

first is a Greek grandmother's cure for skinny boys... " 1 raw egg in a glass of

milk with a spoon of sugar, stir, drink... do it every day and get big and

strong. "

2nd you only have to dose weekly... French Grandfather's cure for weak/skinny

kids... 1/2lb steak tartare (do not use commercially ground meat) once a week...

you may split the dose into two servings if convenient...

both will supply the B12 and some protein plus some fats... just the thing

skinny boys need.

Well.....

We are all thin, but eat a lot of meat. Live in the south and they think we are

strange because we buy organic and drink/eat whole milk, butter, eggs, and meat.

We do not eat any soy (yuck). Maybe a hippy here, but no where near that in

Calif. where this mom is from :)

The DIM is for my husband who has high estrogen. My son is not taking it. My

son eats 2 raw organic eggs five times a week in a protein (whey) shake. I

looked at the list of foods with B12, and he eats plenty of them. He eats 4-5

meals a day, an endless pit! So something is keeping him from absorbing the

B12.

But thanks for the cures, they definitely would have helped if he were not

eating them already :)

estrogens along with it's protein... maybe enough to push down his test

levels... and a vegetarian diet has NO B-12 and that would explain the low B12

and given your basic late teen's diet I doubt he's getting much in the way of

real nutrition (you can't live on cokes and bar-b-que chips)

HI,

ok...

low B12 and NOT a vegeterian.

well there is pernicious anemia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pernicious_anemia

a blast of b12 (aka " a shot " ) once a month and that's " cured " (well no not

technically, it's being treated but his b12 levels will be OK)

that's a simple one to eliminate from the list... I know here (tennessee) you

can get a b12 shot at the local pharmacy no prescription...

it's also available monthly at the school my wife teaches at...

I couple of blasts of b12, retest and see what kinda numbers you get.

there's virtually no downside to a little IM B12
