Guest guest
Hi Phil and Welcome, I am sure your in the right place and sorry your Dr. sent you to see an Uro that sent you to a worse Dr. an Endo they are not good Dr.'s for low Hormones your Family Dr. might know more then the other two you were sent to. First let me tell you FREE Testosterone is only 2% of all the Testosteone in your body so if your TOTAL Testosterone is low at 190 2% of this is a lot less then 2% of a normmal level of 600 to 800 it is simple dam math. If you read this link it's from the Body Building Site but done by a Dr. it states form this link. http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_scie\ nce/the_big_t%3bjsessionid=CA57C15FBCB73C7A22556A52058A1598.hydra I pray you did not start on Testosterone mends yet becuase you need to know why your so low. If you start on Testosterone meds you will have a dam hard time finding out why your low. I was on TRT 23 yrs never feeling 100% because Dr.'s and they were a lot of them all got it wrong telling me I am Primiary meaning my testis don't work. Some 4 yrs ago I figured out I am not Primary but I am Secondary it's a long story you can read it at this link. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 So all I am saying is find out why your low if it can be fixed your Testosterone levels will come back up without your needing TRT and if you need TRT it's for life. I tell men to get these labs done to rule out problems that can lower Testosterone levels. Add to this Total T4 and T3 for Thyroid. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=7059 This link is a great read about all hormones you need to read all of this. http://intlhormonesociety.org/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=37 & Itemi\ d=71 Some of the main things that will lower a mans testosterone are very high levels of Estradiol. http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 Stress will kill your Testosterone levesl a Faty Liver, Drugs and Drinking, over doing it on weight loss and in the gym drinking large amounts of SOY MILK and so on. I am sorry to have to tell you this but you need a Dr. that is up on this problem. ========================================================================== Now that I'm certain you're all experts in Testosterone production (and there will be a test at the end — I'm serious!), I'd like to address one more important issue that will come up later in the article with regard to Testosterone in the body. When Testosterone is converted from cholesterol in the leydig cells of the testis, it's released into the blood stream where it embarks on an anabolic adventure. However, when in the blood, 60% of the big T released from the boys down below is bound up by a protein known as SHBG, or sex-hormone binding globulin. SHBG is produced and released by the liver. The important point is that the Testosterone bound to SHBG is biologically inactive and this is why there's an important distinction between total T and bioavailable T. Total T represents all the Testosterone in the blood, while bioavailable T represents the non SHBG bound Testosterone. There are other proteins in the blood that bind Testosterone, too, but their binding is rather weak, so this T is bioavailable and these proteins can still enter the cells to produce and effect all the things we're interested in. As I said, bioavailable T represents the Testosterone that is not SHBG bound, while free T represents the Testosterone that's not bound to any blood proteins at all. It's tricky, I know, but I hope that it's now evident that although only about 2% of the T in blood is technically considered free T, there is a larger percentage of T (about 40% or so) that is bioavailable because it's only weakly bound to non SHBG blood proteins. Guest guest
Hi Phil and thanks for your reply. It is an issue that concerns me..and my girlfriend. After taking a test recently to get my free testerone it makes sense that since my total levels are so low that even if my free were higher that there isnt much testerone there to being with so free can only go so high...if its is a higher percentage its still low for being higher... you make sense.. why do you say that endo and urologist are bad doctors for hormones?? where do I go to get real help? I was going to try androgrl but am holding off for a bit. I get the feeling my endo is mistaken here with this stuff! I think she needs to address the ENTIRE sexual hormone picture AND address the fact that my total test is way low.. I am going to ask to why for my age I am at 190-210 when I should be up over 500! That isnt normal. I feel it. When she did leave me a message, she sounded really unsure about the whole thing. She says we " :may " : be ok monitoring this but we will discuss it further I guess that may mean she isnt too sure either. I need a doctor that wil say with confidence, yes I have a problem or no im good! The lack of assertion on her part makes me wonder... I also dont excuse her from makind mistakes just because shes an endo MD. Is it better that I seek help from an older doctor? I associate older doctors with more experience vs someine who can out of med school a few yuears ago. thanks again for your help, much apreciated. Guest guest
I have my own experience and what I hear from other men over the yrs. I have been a mod for some yrs helping men at a few other forums and hear this all the time. Most Dr.'s that are not up on this will not admit it and try to treat men only to do them more harm then good. Dr.'s like Endo will test a man see his levels low but in the range of the lab and tell this poor guy he is fine that he is depressed and offer him Prozac WTF is with this Dr.'s pass out AD drugs like it is candy but telling him his is normal with a level at 300 this is in the normal range but that of a 100 yr old man. Uro's do the same thing but offer Viagra give me a break. All you can do is look in the Database section at the home page and see if there is a Dr. listed in your area and see him. Or read in the files section " How to Find a New Male Hormone Dr. " Before seeing a new Dr. call and ask question like does this Dr. treat a lot of men for low T dose he test for high levels if Estradiol in men and if high treat with arimidex dose he test to see if a man is Primary or Secondary and if Secondary dose he use HCG to treat him. You will know if you have a good one. In the links and files section we have a ton of info about this problem with low T and high levels of Estradiol read them learn about this so when you see a Dr. you will know if he or she is doing good by you. Here is a one good link to get you started. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: ifpacpt <ifpacpt (DOT) com> > > Subject: no sex drive, high free test > 2.52 and low total testerone 190 > > > > Date: Saturday, October 17, 2009, 10:07 AM > > Hello, > > > > My name is Phil. Guest guest
5'8 218 puts you about 18-22% BF. When it comes to calibers my eye has been more accurate then calipers or machines. Simple answer to your quesiton if you have no other endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroid, graves, ect and not been in smoke filled rooms for extended peroid of time then I would concider this a lab error. > > >I am overweight yes..but a lot is muscle..I'm a personal trainer..based strictly on weight ..scale weight yes I'm overweight but muscular too...I'm 5 " 8 218 .. > > > Have you used steroids to put on that muscle? > > > >

Guest guest
hardasnails, I got your post on Thanks for the reply. Im trying to make sense of all of this. Its confusing to me. As mentioned, my total testerone is coming it at around 190-210 in 3 different tests. My FREE testerone was around 2.52 which was on he higher end but heres the thing that I was told recently. Free testerone makes up, what 2% of total testerone. So if my TOTAL levels are like 210 of , 2% of that isnt much as opposed to say, 2% of 800 or 1000 total testerone! You mentioned in your post that i should get my total test done again and my shbg.. you nmentioned this will give me a clear picture of what is going on..why is that? im trying to learn.. thank you! ________________________________ From: hardasnails1973 <hardasnails1973@...> Sent: Sat, October 17, 2009 6:01:49 PM Subject: Re: no sex drive, high free test 2.52 and low total testerone 190 5'8 218 puts you about 18-22% BF. There are two methods of determining free testosterone. One is a lab test that actually measures it, the other is an estimate done by ratio of testosterone and SHBG. The estimate version is worthless at the margins. Close enough near normal, bad out of that.
