Guest guest
Once the gel is on you for 4 to 6 hrs it's OK to sweat or go swimming. The dose your on is a starting dose if your labs are not up into the upper levels have your Dr. up the dose. Most of the men that work out like you do switch to shots doing them there self's. Now I am doing this after I apply the Androgel and I have not been putting any lotion on my stomach. Can I put lotion over the Androgel after it dries or sometime later? Have you had blood work to tell you what your total T, free T and E2 levels are? Most of us find we can't reach levels of 600 or above with 5g of androgel. You really should be in the 600 to 800 range to feel " right " . You don't add T to your existing levels. When you start T the body through feedback hormones reduces the amount you produce naturally. So we talk about testosterone REPLACEMENT Therapy. SO to get to 600 most of us use about 7.5 gr. Also be aware that T converts to E2 (estradiol - a powerful estrogen) if you get too much conversion this robs you of lots of the punch of TRT. You should know too that some of us find that overtime androgel stops absorbing as well. And our T levels fall. I had to quit Androgel myself after over a year because my levels feel. I went to 10 gr and still was below 500. (500 seems to be a magic number for erection health.) Personally I would not put lotion over androgel period. But if it's important to you I would do it 12 to 15 hours after the androgel application. The bulk of the absorbtion has taken place by then. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice Phil, My testosterone numbers were in the low 300's just before starting Androgel. I don't know yet where they are now. Although I am presently sixty-five years old, I seem to remember earlier tests being similar to this one number wise. At the least they have always been in the low normal range. I've worked out with weights my entire life. While I am pretty fit, I am not huge like some dudes who've done this. However, I consider myself pretty athletic. I read somewhere that athletes have higher testosterone numbers. I don't want to think about what they would have been had I been a " couch potato. " I did discuss shots with my doctor at the last visit. He's open to my taking testosterone this way. I think it is also less expensive with my current insurance coverage because Androgel is considered a non-preferred drug although there is no generic for it. One thing that concerns me is that with shots one would have highs and lows unless they took them pretty often. If the doctor's office is doing the shots, it would be a nuisance to have them too frequently. Giving them to myself would be the ideal. Thanks again for your reply. Guest guest
, I just checked the info from the T lab work that the doctor ordered prior to prescribing Androgel. It just list the total T count as 348. I've since had another T test, which was both free and total. I need to call him for the results. I've suffered from ED and not much libido for most of my adult life. Fortunately, I have a very understanding wife. While I don't remember for sure what the T numbers have been in previous years, I do remember doctors telling me they were on the low side. If 500 is the magic number for good erections, then I'm probably not there yet. Although, I have had the occasional morning semi-erection since starting Androgel, I take it from that, that I am doing something right. I've decided to try applying the gel at night rather than in the morning. This will allow more absorption time before I go to the gym. The lotion I use is a basically coco butter cream. I like it because it keep my skin soft and fairly wrinkle free. Since my stomach isn't prone to wrinkles, I could just skip that area when spreading on the coco butter. Thanks for the reply, Jay > > >When I was fourteen years old, I caught the mumps and lost one testicle. Although a few doctors told me that shouldn't cause me to have ED, something has. Guest guest
 I was told the same, absorption would be complete from 4 - 6 hours after putting on the andgel. So I time my wourkouts 4 - 6 hours , sometime in the afternoon, after I have put on the gel. As for continuing changes, my musculature continues to improve. the hiar growth on my abdomen, arms and back also continues. In fact, my wife now has to trim near the shirt line where some is beginning to stick out. And of course I enjoy getting wood again and with the increased libido: the desire for sex is almost always and getting it up is more of a certainity. I should mention that I am 65 going on 66 and yes, I know about the sterility problem, but I am already sterile because of a vasectomy about 30 years ago. Guest guest
When applying androgel I would not apply lotion on it for several hours. If you apply gel in the morning put the lotion on later at night time to avoid potential interactions. You can also as your Dr for compounded t gel which is less of a hassle and drys much faster then androgel. UNiversity compounding pharmacy is good. I would look into to it. If your testosterone was low did the dr ever rule out primary vs secondary because you may not need to be on TRT in the first place. Has your thyroid been properly evaluated because alot of our younger guys when they get thyroid and adenals working their testoseterone returns to normal with out TRT may be some clomid and some good nutrition. We have even started guys back that are mid 30's so anything is possible if your dr looks at the primary cause to why it is low > > When I was fourteen years old, I caught the mumps and lost one testicle.
