Guest guest
I have what may be a stupid question. I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor in July of 1997. This in turn had caused my pituitary to start pumping out prolactin,my level was 3 times the upper limit and I had been living this way for 2.5 years at this point. From what I understand, prolactin tells your testes to turn off, stop producing sperm and testosterone. Dr. explained it as the way you feel after you orgasm, tired, can't get it up right away, etc, that is caused by prolactin being released by the pituitary. Well, I was prescribed the drug Dostinex which specifically lowers prolactin levels and now my prolactin is in the lower end of the range. My question is,since it's under control, why do I still have to be on T gel and Arimidex? Why don't my testes go back to working normally as they did before this whole tumor nightmare began at age 40? I've been seeing Dr. since June of 97 and I am still not right, far from it and am at the end of my rope. Jim
Guest guest
Jim when the pituitary acts up as time goes on it can stop sending the messages to make other hormones. In my case my pitutiary is bad from a head injury I went 23 yrs. being told I am primary Dr. helped me to get my Dr. to let me try HCG when I went on this my testis were the size of small grapes from doing TRT for 23 yrs. After starting on 500 IU's of HCG 3x's a week I did labs after the 15th. shot my levels for TT doubled so this is how I figured out I am Hypopituitary now my Dr. treats all the hormones that we low normal Cortisol, Thyroid, Ferritin, Iron, Folate and Aldosterone you need to test all the these to see if they are low. As I get older my pituitary is doing less and less. Treating the low things I feel much better but we are not going to get better. If your Prolactin is good now test other hormones to see how they are doing. You might be to high on Estradiol and low on Testosterone this will kill your sex life. Do you still see Dr. what does he use to treat you are you on TRT, with HCG. Guest guest
You are having the same problems I have it's E2 it goes up very fast and down fast on arimidex right now I am having to do .5 mgs evey other day was doing fine on .25 mgs every 2 to 3 days. What I do is in the morning before I get up if I did not have night time and morning wood is to check to see if I can get it up in a normal time. If not I am going to low on arimidex and I stop taking it until my strong wood comes back. It's not hard to think your going to low and it's your going to high. I have sore and hard nipples when I am going to high and feel feelings of panic when this happens I take a .5 mgs that morning if I was doing .25mgs every 3 days when my next day comes up and I am having good wood I just to back on the .25mgs every 3 days. You need to get in touch with your body keep a log how your feeling on what dose. After a time you can keep your sex life going good. Just remember E2 is never going to be the same day to day some days your going to go higher and others lower. I have found my Wood is my best gage for keeping my E2 levels in the zone.
