Guest guest
Hi Allan and Welcome, Your story is typical of what myself and most of us have been through. 5 grams is not enough gel you need it upped to 10 grams and if you don't feel better on this then you need to switch to shots. You felt good because the gel upped your T levels on top of what your testis were making. But once your brain sees the T in your blood stream it stops sending the messages to your Testis to make T. So they shut down and this is why you feel like you do. The best thing you can do is go to this site www.allthingsmale.com and print TRT: A Recipe for success and the HCG Update. Give this to your Dr. and tell him you need to have these tests done and to try this treatment. The good thing you have going for you is your Dr. did a new test. By what you said here you test is going to come back low about the same as it was before the gel. Also you need to be tested for Estradiol " E2 " I can bet your high and this will hold you back from feeling better. Try to work with this Dr. and tell him you talk to men at this site that have the same problems you have. Good luck I know you will get there. I relate to a lot of your stories, was told I had depression given drugs, didnt work told leg pain was in my head, tired because i didnt sleep enough, sleep to much ect ect. Finally went to uroligist per gp who thought I had uti. Asked him to check my test as I had seen some symptoms of it on the web, He almost told me I was nuts and said no but finally relented. I was 180 TT and he called and done some more tests and told me I had primary. Put me on 5 grams androgel, Felt good, REAL good better than I have in 15 years, for about 3 weeks then body quit and ive slowly went down to where I was three months ago. Seen doc yesterday told him my symptoms and that my body had shut down I thought and he about freaked, wanted to know how i knew that ect. I felt like a drug addict trying to get drugs or something. Now I know at 6'0' 280 pounds of glorious blubber, back surgery, Pins in rt arm, bad knees and hemerroids he could mistake me for a bodybuilder but geez get real. finally agreed to another test for my level ( only 1st on since I started androgel ). I am very limited as to Drs. in this area so any advice on how to talk to him or should I just find another doc. By the way i'm 43. Thanks in advance Allan

They're allowed to charge reasonable fees to make the copies for you. You can seek second opinions regardless of whether you choose to continue under this guy's care or not. Guest guest
Hey Allan and welcome This is what the doctors are trained to do. They prescribe androgel because it is very conservative and you can't get too high a dose at 5 grams per day. In fact, most men can not function on this level. We feel our best when our T is climbing which is what happened to you the first 3 weeks. Then your body tried to regulate it self so it shut down production of T (your 180 ng/dl) Now you are running only on the Androgel. Some of us had problems with non-absorbption with the gels. It just can't get you high enough. The doctors get hammered when they prescribe steroids so they are reluctant to prescribe shots. The document that Phil pointed out is the best there is and up to date in my opinion. Take this with you and give it to your doctor. Educate yourself on the use of testosterone and affects it has on the body. If he feels you are on top of this and responsible, he will be more likely to work with you. We are all different and react differently to the medications so you will have to find what works best for you. Androgel is expensive but easy to apply. You need to go to 10 grams if you choose that route. The alternative would be self injections of ~ 100 mgs every 7 days. You need to do the shots this frequently to minimize conversion of the T to Estradiol and minimizing the roller coaster affect. Don't expect that this will fix itself quickly, it took me a year to get correct and stabilized. Good Luck - Arkansas Allan <alclerc@...> wrote: Hello all, been on board awhile 1st post. Guest guest
Thanks for all the replies I feel some better. I will get Copies as quick as I can but not sure of my next visit. I live in a smaal town in east Texas and the Dr. only comes here twice a month or so and has a lot of patients so visits are spread out. I seen on one list there was a dr. in lufkin texas if anyone knows anything about him I would be greatful. Lufkin is about 60 miles but I would be willing to travel no problem. My ed is coming back and my intrest in sex is waning again and I think my wife is hoping he will up my T more than me,lol As you said maybe he is being conservitive and just needs to see if im willing to help myself some, I never considered that angle. He is not easy to talk to. My gp is also a family friend of some 30 years and im used to his being open and easy to talk to about things. I have had a lyons share of health problems as of late and am trying to deal with all of them, diabetes among them (I found out through the uroligist testing for the T) But im going to get back on top shelf again though. Thanks again for the replies Allan
