Guest guest
Forgive me if I'm posting a question that's already been addressed in the group. I just found out that I have a single 3 centimeter gallstone. For about 6 weeks, fron the beginning of Feb to the middle of March, I suffered debilitating attacks lasting several hours. My doctor treated me for acid reflux disease, but I knew that wasn't right, and got myself a sonogram. - and a new doctor, but my appointment isn't for another month. I'm 46,male, in good health and 40 lbs overweight. The questions I have are : 1. If this stone is 3 cm, it must have been around for a while. Why has it never bothered me before? 2. What specifically causes an attack ? I don't mean greasy food, etc. What is happening inside to a: trigger it, b: make it last so goddam long 3. How could anything that large be removed lapriscopically? 4. What about this post-operative chronic diarreah thing I keep reading about? I've read stats ranging from 5-20 %. This is something I absolutely want to avoid 5. My doctor couldn.t say whether it is a pigment or a cholesteral stone. I have never had high cholesterol - and alternative methods I've been reading about for getting rid of them non-surgically appear to make a distinction between the two types. Thank you for any responses you would be willing to give
