Guest guest
Has anyone looked into this HCG Diet that many are blaming for the recent HCG shortages? I subscribed to the group someone posted here, and briefly glanced through the materials and posts and from what I can tell, the HCG part just seems to be a bunch of hooey. I mean, if you read the protocols, I suspect that whether you used HCG at the recommended 125iu per day rate, or not, that you would lose massive amounts of weight quickly. The diet portion of the HCG Diet appears to be nothing more than a severe calorie restriction diet with emphasis on avoiding carbohydrates. Sounds like Atkins, South Beach, Eades, and so many other diets out there. Phase 1 of the diet is to eat 500 calories per day, divided into two meals. That's starvation level. Phase 2, looks like you bump up the calories a bit and are allowed a few carbs. I would certainly lose 40 pounds in a month if I restricted myself to 500 calories per day. And any time I really need to lose weight, cut the carbs to zero and off sheds the fat. The HCG does what, exactly? Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, and just a way to sell HCG and fees for administering it.

Guest guest
Could it be that the small amount of hCG raises the testoserone level of those taking it, that in itself would encourage weight loss, wood it not, AND, or a healthier balance between estrogen and testosterone. I have ordered the book, perhaps it will explain. I cannot seem to find any info, on exactly what hCG does in females. I am aware this extreme low calorie diet will encourage the body to release a lot more human growth hormone, and those envolved in life extension, believe a low calorie diet prolongs life. But I am reading and trying to understand the diet, my background is in nutrition, albeit retired. regards david h Re: HCG Diet - a joke? > It is a bunch of bull Dr. says they should lose there license for > giving HCG to lose weight. > > Dave <groupsdude@...> wrote: Has anyone looked into this > HCG Diet that many are blaming for the > recent HCG shortages? > > I subscribed to the group someone posted here, and briefly glanced > through the materials and posts and from what I can tell, the HCG part > just seems to be a bunch of hooey. > > I mean, if you read the protocols, I suspect that whether you used HCG > at the recommended 125iu per day rate, or not, that you would lose > massive amounts of weight quickly. > > The diet portion of the HCG Diet appears to be nothing more than a > severe calorie restriction diet with emphasis on avoiding > carbohydrates. Guest guest
If did not do it for me I am over the yrs doing all I could to keep from gaining weight. Years ago I joined Weight Watchers to keep from gaining I topped out at 325 lbs do to the fatigue and lack of exercise from being so sick and house bound. HCG did not take any weight off me what did was finding out my Ferritin levels were below normal and going on Iron pills after my Iron levels come up my Fatigue was gone and I could breathe. In the last 10 weeks I am down 32 lbs. appreciative dAVId <dhallgar@...> wrote: Could it be that the small amount of hCG raises the testoserone level of those taking it, that in itself would encourage weight loss, wood it not, AND, or a healthier balance between estrogen and testosterone. Guest guest
I subscribed to that group & posted a message today. The message was Google " kevin trudeau scam artist convicted felon " . He is the guru of the HCG diet craze. I also said that some people might loose weight on HCG since it increased the sex hormones. Everyone would lose weight on 500 calories per day. If they continued on 500 calories for more than a month or two they would have serious medical problems. 500 calories a day is a starvation diet. Must have been a liberal moderator since free speech of opposing points was not allowed. I went back in a 1/2 hour & the group was not listed in " my groups " G > > Has anyone looked into this HCG Diet that many are blaming for the > recent HCG shortages? > > I subscribed to the group someone posted here, and briefly glanced > through the materials and posts and from what I can tell, the HCG part > just seems to be a bunch of hooey. > > I mean, if you read the protocols, I suspect that whether you used HCG > at the recommended 125iu per day rate, or not, that you would lose > massive amounts of weight quickly. > > The diet portion of the HCG Diet appears to be nothing more than a > severe calorie restriction diet with emphasis on avoiding > carbohydrates. Guest guest
Phil, is there any medical reason iron levels would directly affect weight, or is it just a balance and feeling well enough to be more active thing? Guest guest
if that's the message you posted no wonder they got defensive. maybe you ought to keep an open mind and find out about it before you barge in .. just a thought. i've lost 35 pounds in a month and i'm not starving, i feel great! combined with a very low cal diet the hcg gets the excess fat circulating and consumes it at about 2000 calories a day so you lose about a pound a day.it's fantastic and it works! at least get trudeau's book 'weight loss cure' at amazon. i got a used copy for about $8. and yes trudeau has a checkered past but this whole discovery was by a dr. simeon back in the 50's. a british doctor who treated the wealthy obese in his clinic in rome for years. see this http://www.squidoo.com/the-weight-loss-cure thom > On Feb 16, 2008, at 7:15 AM, gin2c <no_reply > wrote: > > > I subscribed to that group & posted a message today. > > The message was Google " kevin trudeau scam artist convicted felon " . > > He is the guru of the HCG diet craze. > > > > I also said that some people might loose weight on HCG since it > > increased the sex hormones. > > > > Everyone would lose weight on 500 calories per day. Guest guest
Perhaps if a different pitchman was involved the HCG diet would have more credibility with me. Anything Trudeau touches is tainted in my view. Glad to hear you are doing well with it though, 35 pounds in a month sounds like incredible results. Guest guest
I am on Thyroid meds Armour doing 4 grains a day and I am told with low ferritin levels the thyroid can't use the Armour as well as it can with normal levels of ferritin. I think they are right as my iron goes up I lose more weight because my thyroid is not hypo anymore. Guest guest
i never said that this diet was hcg ALONE. it's a strict diet along with hcg. yes, most definately you will lose weight on a 500 cal diet without hcg. you will mostly lose water and muscle, you will feel tired, weak, irritable and will be ravenously hungry. not on this protocol! you feel fine. you lose fat not muscle. you do feel a mild hungriness but it's easily manageable. i was skeptical too. i went on the hcg diet group, read dr. simeons paper (in the files section), got and read trudeau's book, read the hundreds of posts of people utterly amazed at how it's working for them, tried it myself and got the same great results!! now if you want " peer reviewed studies " ..well, good luck with that. an open mind is a wonderful thing. how many of us, right here in this group, have had trouble finding a doctor who knew how to treat hypogonadism? i have. how often are we met with ignorance and arrogance? the ugly attitude of 'i'm the doctor and i know and you don't' and 'don't bother me with any information, i've already made up my mind'. how many doctors who won't prescribe hcg or arimedex. now i can guarantee if you ask 100 doctors about losing weight with hcg 99 of them will immediately say it doesn't work without having any knowledge of it or experience in treating people with it. so the wheel turns. good day thom > >> > >>> I subscribed to that group & posted a message today. > >>> The message was Google " kevin trudeau scam artist convicted > > felon " . > >>> He is the guru of the HCG diet craze. > >>> > >>> I also said that some people might loose weight on HCG since it > >>> increased the sex hormones. > >>> > >>> Everyone would lose weight on 500 calories per day.
