Guest guest
OK Phil, When we go on any kind of Testosterone are brain sees it in the blood and slows down sending the LH and FSH messages to the testis to make it. So what ever your testis was making before the gel it will stop. In your case your testis were not making much at all so your all ready shut down. Going on TRT be it gels, shots, patch's, pellets or pills you need to build up your Total T levels to the upper 1/3 of your labs range for starters then go by how you feel. And you need to keep your Estrdiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml. Going on 5 grams is a very low dose some men do well on it most don't so all I am saying is don't wait 2 to 3 months to get tested again get tested 2 weeks after you start on this low dose. If you levels come back at 300 to even 500 you need more then 5 grams. Some men have a total T of 200 when they go on the gel there brain sees this stops sending the messages to the testis and when they do labs again not feel anything they find they are lower then they started. Some men have a thicker skin and gels down get though the skin so why start something and not follow up on it soon. Why Dr.'s don't know this I have no Idea I am just trying to make sure you know if your not feeling better it might not be enough or you need shots. Guest guest
No start with the starting dose test in 2 weeks and if still low then go up. It takes time to get leveled off and I feel you need to start low and work your way up. This way you don't get problems with high levels of Estradiol and thicker blood. To much Testosterone in a med. can stress out your Adrenals big time. Guest guest
I don't talk about Steroids or Prohormones just TRT. Guest guest
Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most me just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Guest guest
If you are 20 years old you dr is making a huge mistake with out seeing checking to see if you are primary vs secondary. With out evaluating the cause you are being condemned to TRT for apparent no reason like many young guys are because dr's are too lazy to look into reasons why which could be that you had a simple cold at the time. We have had several cases that guys come in with T of 3-400 and look at other factors and simple ask did you have a cold or infection at this time. Looking for root cause can save health care costs billions. Simple moving the vitamin D ranges up from 20 to 40 could save billions of dollar in future health care but the morons would not do. I swear at times I think its a comspiracy to keep us sick so peopel can make money off of us. People like my self and DR overbeck go against this as our job is to make people not better but well. Back to your question 2 weeks will cause a negative feed back loop for you to stop you own natural production to shut off ending up majority less then what you started with. Dr needs to either increase dosages or find cause of your issue and correct it at the source. He should check e2 (4021x) to make sure it is not elevated. > > I have been on Androgel for a few weeks. Guest guest
Yes I would try and talk to your Dr. about doing the test now and getting into see him the first of the yr. Adding to this test Estradiol I get it done at Quest labs test #4021 the range is 13 to 53 pg/ml best level is about 20 pg/ml. I also get this down at Quest labs for T levels. Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X. And in this test you get SHBG levels under the same number. Alos these are good labs to get. Your on a starting dose of gel and one needs to be tested after starting this in 2 weeks to be sure your levels came back up they can go lower. Homocysteine (Caridioviasular) Code #31789X. Vit.D, 25-Hydroxy LC/MS/MS Code #17306X. TSH Free T4 Free T3 Total T3 Total T4 RT3 Total Iron Iron Binding Capacity Iron % Saturation Ferritin B-12 Here is what I tell men that start on gels. ======================================================================== Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. Guest guest
Yes keven back in the day we were talking but putting the gel after your done putting on your body rubbing what was left on your testis. Well let me tell you it worked great but DHT for most of us went up 3 to 4x's above the top of the range and from me it was driving my Prostate nuts. Guest guest
You can try this I did not like what it did to my skin under my arms it gave me a little rash. Don't put gels on your chest or belly fat it can turn into Estradiol faster. Guest guest
Going on TRT yrs ago I grew hair all over my chest and shoulders belly and some on my back. I seen my heart Dr. the other day they did an EKG and shaved me in spots. So when I got home I had to get the clippers out and cut all that dam hair off my boys belly and chest even under arms. The dam hair never stops growing it get 4 " lg. So I do this every 4 months. I don't shave it did this once and it itched like crazy but yes I hate the hair that grew on my body from being on TRT. Guest guest
Hey Rod, I've been on the gel 5 months, first test after two months went down to 220 from 280 then up to 7.5 from 5 gm.. Last test two months ago ( at 7.5) was 380. Now on 10 gm and will be tested in two weeks, doc figures it will be about 500 my energy and sex drive has gone up. Only one down slide after the first drop to 220 which is normal, my doc likes to take it slow .... but so far I am very happy witht the gel (it has helped my depression a lot).  Hank ________________________________ From: " rodneyatkins@... Was wondering if any androgel users could give a timeline of the positive effects they got from androgel. Three weeks in now and I can feel a positive change in my energy levels and well being. As far as libido I have not really changed since the first day. I am 38 and was prescribed androgel after complaining to my gp of fatigue and loss of libido. Blood test revealed a total testosterone of 241. I was prescribed 5 grams daily and follow the application directions as ordered. No other hormones have been tested at the moment.
