Guest guest
If you have a pituitary tumor you need to check all your hormones and some if your thyroid is low and your Cortisol levels you need to treat them just doing androgel will not make you feel 100%. If a thyroid problem your skin can get thicker and gels don't work well they can't get through your skin. Bottom line here is get your Total T levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml this is the best thing you can do. And once your leveled off your body will start to undo any damage done by having low T and little by little you will feel better everyday. And later on add in some HCG to keep your LH and FSH cells working and your testis. Guest guest
Fish Oil don't get me started on CNN when Fish Oil was a big thing they did a story on how people will jump on the band wagon to take your money. Fishing boats would keep what they use to through away and grind up and press the oil out if this junk fish. Then they sell it as Fish Oil and it has no Omega 3's in it just Mercury and other bad Chemicals. Your best bet is to get a scrip from your Dr. for Lovaza. There are not good fish oils out there you don't know what your getting when you buy a fish old supplement. http://cholesterol.emedtv.com/lovaza/lovaza-versus-fish-oil.html Even this stuff is in question as to it being true Salmon Fish Oil. I don't do it anymore I just make sure I eat fish with Omega 3's in it 3x's a week. Guest guest
I am on 5 grams per day. So far I have noticed nothing, but Phil has kindly steered me in the right direction as to what might be wrong there. Also, I have menieres disease and the specialist is currently messing around with diuretics, most of which can kill libido and wood (especially morning wood). > > I am on 7 grams of andro gel each day - have wood, can retain my erection with a little heop froma a cock ring and have a good time jacking and fucking. been on it for about a year and a half. Guest guest
Brilliant advice mate. Got the Vit B complex, going to the pharmacy later on for the Tylenol PM, seeing the doc soon regarding the dose increase to 2 sachets per day of the gel, no problem re the porn - hopefully all of that will set me back on track. My biggest concern over these T gels is the Estradiol levels. So far, nobody has mentioned that at all (by that I mean the docs). I am not even sure if we treat that in my country. Kinda worried... > > I'll be 29 soon and I use androgel.. Good news is that within a few days you should feel good and normal again.. Guest guest
They are very good but do they even know what they are getting get my point. Most of the crap out there is not the true Fish Oil it is ground up and pressed junk fish. And it is rancid by the time you take it. Guest guest
Good point when I was in the hosp. out cold for 17 weeks from heart bypass sugary when I came too I could not think or remember things what helped me a lot was word search puzzles. Then thing with starting on a low 5 gram dose of Androge is your body sees the testosterone in your blood and shuts down sending the LH and FSH messages to your testis so they stop making T now your left with what the gel is doing. And some men the gel is doing less then there testis were making and they end up by 2 weeks lower then they started. Yes you can build muscle on TRT they will come back even if you don't work out. Guest guest
If your in the UK they test for it but don't treat it with Arimidex but if your high you can buy DIM this will bring it down. Here is a link to the kind that works. http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Pure-Rip-with-DIM-60-Tablets/12814?at=0 http://www.dimfaq.com/index.htm To find it in your country do a Google search " DIM UK. " or what your country is. Take one table at dinner time watch for your wood to come back in the morning so strong it wakes you up this means your levels are good. Some men do good on one half a tab a day if you lose wood after getting it back your going down to low so just stop the DIM until wood comes back then do hald a tab. Guest guest
How do you use 7gms? Andro Gel only comes in 5gm packets. I use compounded T creme from University Compounding Pharmacy which makes 7.5% creme. One pump squirt is equal to 1gm of creme giving you 75mg of Testosterone per squirt. The cost is $50/month with no insurance. Also life Extension Pharmacy makes the same. > > I am on 7 grams of andro gel each day - have wood, can retain my erection with a little heop froma a cock ring and have a good time jacking and fucking. been on it for about a year and a half. I backed away from the prescription because it wasn't generic so expensive and I wondered if it was really fish oil because you can't patent something that occurs naturally. ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Friday, October 23, 2009 8:21:37 AM Subject: Re: Re: Androgel users They are very good but do they even know what they are getting get my point. Most of the crap out there is not the true Fish Oil it is ground up and pressed junk fish. And it is rancid by the time you take it. Guest guest
I'm 58. I lack libido and haven't been able to do anything penetrative for 10 years. What really made me decide to do the Androgel though, was the other things it helps, such as my low bone density, mood, muscle to fat ratio, heart health etc. Part of my problem is that I have been on Prozac for about 14 years. I have tried getting off but never could make it work for me. My urologist put me on the 5 gram Androgel packets. I am on day 31 now and I still don't notice much of a difference. The doc said that it would start to work in 20-30 days. I guess it gets going real slow. Since low testosterone can affect mood, I wonder if my doc made a mistake prescribing Prozac for depression 14 years ago. I'm wondering if low testosterone could have been an undiagnosed problem at that time. I know that testosterone affects mood. So here's where I'm going with this. Do you think that after I've been on Androgel long enough to bring my testosterone up to normal that I might not need the Prozac? Anyone have any idea about how long it takes to get back to normal testosterone? What do you think of this idea?
Guest guest
Yes testosterone like any other hormone being out of whack affects mood (bit like when you've drunk too much and have a hangover your body takes time to restore homoestasis) and yes likely that higher T would have helped you rather than prozac - depends how low your low T was in first place (you didn't provide any figures?). Prozac or any other anti-depressant lowers testosterone and has been known to kill libido by the way so I would really try to get off it if I were you. 5 grams may not be enough for you - you may need to increase dose to 7.5grams or even 10grams for you to notice difference but your urologist/prescribing doctor should have had you in after 3 weeks anyway for blood results including total testosterone, DHT, estrogen being the main ones plus a complete blood count showing haematocrit in particular. > > I'm 58. Guest guest
Alright there mate Phil (the moderator) gave me some advice on this when I first joined the group and I have to say, his advice turned out to be spot on. With these gels, the standard dose (one sachet per day) is enough to shut off your body's own production of testosterone, so in fact you wind up with a lower level of the hormone than before you started. I had a blood test about two weeks ago and the results came back exactly as Phil predicted - with a lower testosterone level than I had at the start of therapy. The remedy is to double the dose (use two sachets). I am seeing the endo one week hence of this coming Monday and when I do I will suggest this to him. Like you, I did not notice anything using just one sachet and in fact noticed it was worse than before. Now and again I was able to function OK and my mood was fine but once I started on the gel I have zero libido - to the point where I do not even think about it. I am also in what feels like a bad mood all of the time. I am usually quite even (well, just don't wake me up in the morning and give me five minutes to get myself going) but these days I have felt really irritable and am often very quiet. I have tried using two sacehts just to see what would happen and I have noticed a personal difference (mood and such) but because I have not officially been given this yet I cannot stay on that. All the best with it anyway mate - keep us posted on what happens. ade > > I'm 58. I lack libido and haven't been able to do anything penetrative for 10 years. Guest guest
For one thing men with low T end up being told by Dr.'s not up on hormones that there problem is they are suffering from Depression. This is BULL I lost 5 yrs of my life on them dam drugs when my problem was low testosterone. I have been there done that here is a link to my Story and an update. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 I feel it's a dam shame a Dr. will put you on 5 grams of Androgel and tell you this crap 20 to 30 day. You needed to be tested again in 2 weeks on this low dose. Here is what can happen your brain sees the added Testosterone in your blood and shuts down sending the LH and FSH messages from you Pituitary to tell your Testis to make Testosterone. So if your base levels were at 300 and the gel in the first week took you to 500. You start to feel good then fall back because your brain sees this and stops sending the LH and FSH messages to your testis now all your left with is what the gel is doing 200 mgs. So all I am saying is some men end up lower or at the same level then when they started. You need to test this and your Estradiol do a Quest labs test #4021 the range is 13 to 54 pg/ml if your above 30 you need arimidex to get this down. Men your age all ready have higher levels of Estradiol and should have this tested before going on TRT fixing this your Testosterone levels can go up some 200 to 300 point but your on Androgel so it's to late to try this still your need to keep it at about 20 pg/ml or all the good the androgel does high Estradiol will undo it. You need to get your levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range then go by how you feel. You need to test your Cortisol and Thyroid levels if your thyroid is low this can make your skin thicker and gels can't get through the skin and you can't get your levels up. This would mean you would need to do shots. Once your leveled off and feeling better with good levels wean off the Prozac talk to your Dr. about how to come off it don't just stop taking it. You can have some dam bad withdraw problems doing this. Getting your Testosterone levels up and keeping your Estradiol levels down you will get back your libido and if you have ED it will get better. You will also get back your involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM. This is a good gage to tell your Estradiol levels are good. As you get leveled off your body will start to undo any damage done from low Testosterone and you will feel a little better everyday it's a slow process. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/85/9/3027 http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm This above links are full of info learn about this so you know your Dr. is doing right by you. We have a links and files section at the home page on the left of your screen full of links and file about this problem read and learn. Guest guest
Thanks Do you think that a urologist is the right specialist to see for this? This guy gave me 10 refills and told me to make an appointment for 6 months from now. I was surprised at that at the time. I don't believe that he even checked estrogen. He did T, then a whole bunch of tests to make sure the pituitary was functioning OK, then a confirming T, then put me on the Androgel. I wonder about the guy. He told me that I could decide not to take T, and just admit I'm old and that things have changed. I don't think that he has any great interest in treating this type of stuff. But, low T seems to have quite serious effects even apart from sexual function...so I just don't understand him. Max > > > > I'm 58. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Ade. What kind of doctor do you mean when you say " endo " . A urologist prescribed mine. Perhaps I need to see a different type of doctor. When you tried the two sachets, how did you apply it, slather on twice as much at the same time or do one sachet then six hoursa later do the other? I plan to try that out too...just once to see if I notice anything. Max > > > > I'm 58. I lack libido and haven't been able to do anything penetrative for 10 years. Guest guest
" You start to feel good then fall back " I felt pretty good one day out of the 30…but it's hard to notice, because I never get really down with the Prozac (it works for mood, but kills one's sex life). My doctor is obviously not doing this right. He's an urologist. Is there a more appropriate type of doctor that I should see? The doctor told me to make an appointment in 6 months. Estrogen was never checked and that sounds as important or even moreso than T. Do you know of any resources where I can find a more appropriate physician? I'm in Pennsylvania USA, about 80 miles west of Philadelphia. " do a Quest labs test #4021 " . Quest is right across the street, but don't I need a prescription for a blood test? I take it arimidex reduces Estradiol. Is it a gel too? And do I have to use it forever if I have an Estradiol problem? Have you heard of any nasty side effects from it? ly, I'm sorta pissed that my doctor would put me on T, when Estradiol could be my problem. He does not appear to be very learned in these matters. What you're saying is that I might not even need to be on Androgel, but Arimidex instead, or perhaps both; right?. Either way, it seems inexcusable that he should not have checked Estradiol. I'm gonna call him Monday. " so it's to late to try this still your need to keep it at about 20 pg/ml or all the good the androgel does high Estradiol will undo it. " Too late to try what; Estradiol testing ? 20 pg/ml….are you saying that I should do mega T or something? When I call Monday, I'm going to get all the test results. My faith in my urologist is shaken. I really appreciate all the good info, Phil. Everyone on here seems to know a hell of a lot whereof they speak. Fantastic group! Guest guest
In all the yrs of seeing Dr.'s I never found a good Endo or Uro that was up on low Testosterone. The first Dr. that found me to be low was an Uro but he got it wrong he told me my testis don't work good. 23 yrs later I find out it's my Pituitary in my brain. Long story you can read it at this link and the update. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 If you can go back and see this Uro after you learn a little from us maybe he can do the labs you will need and test your Estradiol and if needed give you Arimidex pills. We cut them in to 4 parts and take .25 mgs every 2 to 3 days to keep Estradiol levels good. You sound like your upset don't be if your levels were very low and for an Uro to put you on TRT you would have to be below the normal range so fixing high Estradiol would most likely not help you would still need Androgel. You need to retest doing the following labs at Quest Lab. Estradiol sentive Code #4021 Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X. Homocysteine (Caridioviasular) Code #31789X. Vit.D, 25-Hydroxy LC/MS/MS Code #17306X. TSH Free T4 Free T3 Total T3 Total T4 RT3 Total Iron Iron Binding Capacity Iron % Saturation Ferritin B-12 If your levels are still not good up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range the do 10 grams of gel put 5 on one side then 5 on the other. Doing your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach spread it around and let it dry from wet don't rub it in. After a good shower in the morning. Your in the right place even if you can't get your Uro to come around we can help you find a new Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > From: max_just_max <errolmacky@...> > Subject: Re: Androgel users > > Date: Saturday, October 24, 2009, 7:14 PM > " You start to feel good then fall > back " > > I felt pretty good one day out of the 30…but it's hard to > notice, because I never get really down with the Prozac (it > works for mood, but kills one's sex life). > > My doctor is obviously not doing this right. He's an > urologist. Is there a more appropriate type of doctor > that I should see? The doctor told me to make an > appointment in 6 months. Estrogen was never checked > and that sounds as important or even moreso than > T.   Do you know of any resources where I can > find a more appropriate physician? I'm in Pennsylvania > USA, about 80 miles west of Philadelphia. > > " do a Quest labs test #4021 " . > > Quest is right across the street, but don't I need a > prescription for a blood test? > > I take it arimidex reduces Estradiol. Is it a gel > too? And do I have to use it forever if I have an > Estradiol problem?
