Guest guest
Your at the right place and well come, One thing men that are into bicycling can damage there Prostate on the seat. Also men that like this sport over do it and can get low cortisol levels this can lead to Thyroid problems and low Testosterone. You have your hands full on this one he will fight you tooth and nail on this. He needs to understand most men his age only married have sex at least 3 to 4 x's a week. No it's not normal to not feel like having sex or thinking about it all the time. All you can do is get in his face about this tell him he needs to see a Dr. and get some labs done. One thing that is a flag going up is not having night time and morning wood. Do you know if he has them if not there is something wrong. Here is a link to a forum I am also a mod at and it's labs I tell men they need if there libido is low or they have ED problems. Add to this Total T4 and T3. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=7059 I don't like Endo's or Uro's for this they are not good Dr.'s for men's hormones. Try to get his family Dr. to test him post his labs here we all are good at reading them. If he has low Testosterone don't go on Testosterone meds until you find out why he is low going on it will make it dam hard to tell why he is low a lot of things can lower a mans hormones. One thing that kills men's libido is high levels of Estradiol or low levels with low Testosterone. Men make Estradiol from Testosterone and men in good shape with low Testosterone end up with low Estradiol levels. This will kill his sex life. Guest guest
Well I sat and talked with my husband and showed him your response. He was surprised to hear what bicycling can do to the prostate and that this can effect other issues like the thyroid. This interested him because he's also trying to loose a little weight (not much) and is having trouble with it. At first he didn't want to read about this but after he did it took about an hour for it to really get to him that this is real and not normal. Part of what helped was your honesty about normal sexual activity for guys his age. I know this is the begining of a long road but I'm so glad that the first step is being taken. He really didn't want to admit there was a problem or that it's not normal to only be ative once a month. He's apperantly lived with this for a long time too. Possibly since his mid to late 20's. Even he can't remember when things changed. To answer your question though, no he says he doesn't have morning or night erections and doesn't remember when that stopped but he did say that at one time they did happen. Which gives me a lot of hope that this is medical and can be fixed. He has some questions though about options. He doesn't have med. insurance right now so he was wondering approx how much it may cost to do all of this and if there's any dietary or herbal things he can try first. He's starting though to already sound a little hopeful that maybe we can have a better life together with something he never wanted to talk about or believe, plus he was honest enough to tell me it's not my fault and I told him I don't blame him, that I just want better. Thank you so much for already starting us on a better path. Please send and give lots more advise. We're listening together now. > > > From: ntamez28 <ntamez28@...> > > Subject: Lack of sexual activity > > > > Date: Monday, October 5, 2009, 4:17 PM > > I have an issue and it's extremely > > delicate and upsetting to me plus I'm not even 100% sure > > that this is where to post it but after reading a few things > > on your forum thought you guys might be able to help me. > > > > My husband and I have been married for 5 months now and we > > seem to have a situation with us not having any sort of > > regular sex life. Guest guest
Testosterone works at the cellular level. It affects basic metabolic processes. It works on the mRNA and mitochrondia of the cell. Energy comes from the mitochrondria, the powerhouse of the cell. The anabolic (muscle building) effect of testosterone is what causes the male physique. The metabolic energy can be driven from either Testosteron or Estrogen. Estrogen is surprisingly similar in many respects and is also a steroid. Far from being " opposites " they are very close in chemical structure. As we often mention here, Testosterone can convert to Estrogen very easily through Aromatization. The reverse is not true. Estradiol can convert to Estrone and Estrone can convert back to Estradiol. Estrone sulfate can be stored in the body and acts as a reservoir of estrogen. Estradiol never converts to Testostrone or DHT. Your body can run on either Testosterone or Estrogen, but if both are low you appear to age quickly. The wikipedia articles are very good: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Testosterone http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estradiol > > > > What exactly is it about testosterone that gives men energy and how can women function with energy that they do with barely any testosterone/ > >
Guest guest
Forget the herbals, they are a waste of money. Proper diet is always a help, but won't fix this problem by itself. You can start off by having a blood test for testosterone levels. This can be done for less than $80. Go to http://www.privatemdlabs.com/ and look up the below test. You should be able to find a labcorp facility near you to have the blood drawn. You will receive the results by e-mail. Use the discount code OCT09BST to get a 15% discount. -- Testosterone, Free (Direct), Serum With Total Testosterone Description: Evaluate hirsutism and masculinization in women; evaluate testicular function in clinical states where the testosterone binding proteins may be altered (obesity, cirrhosis, thyroid disorders). Includes: Free Testosterone (Direct) and Total, Serum ; Testosterone, Free/Tot/Direct. Patient Instructions: If using a testosterone cream please be sure you have not rubbed any into the antecubital area of your arm for the last 24 hours as it can give elevated results. Categories: Hormones and Metabolism Price: $89.49 He has some questions though about options. He doesn't have med. insurance right now so he was wondering approx how much it may cost to do all of this and if there's any dietary or herbal things he can try first. .... Guest guest
Well this can be a problem not having a health care plain to cover the cost of labs. Guest guest
> Are there homeopathic things he can take? Hi, there are a few OTC type things that can help. a zinc supplement is good... I just take a calcium/magnesium/zinc arginine... an amino acid it help circulation kinda and can help if it's a high estrogen/e2 level many here swear by a supplement called DIM... I'm sure they'll tell you more about it. odd as it may sound GNC Men's Sport Multivitamins will reliably give me an easier erection and I'm noticably " hornier " . > Are there things I can do? for me I know a nightgown vs pajamas always does the trick :-} > How do I broach this subject without crushing him? probably the hardest thing... at 42 with a young wife he's probably got a lot of work related stress and that doesn't help... if you could get him into the doc's for a " checkup " with appropriate blood work that'd be a start... somebody else here could give you a better list than I could on what all to check first time... there are all sorts of things to just rule out before you start administering Testosterone... though it's probably just age and stress. you might want to relate to him that when one is ON Testosterone you feel GREAT (generally... I know I do... but I shoot for the upper 1% of normal ;-}) and it'd increase his sporting performance (bicycling, tennis, golf (yes there are rumors Tiger is on the juice)). > how can I kindly show him once a month is not normal for a guy this > young? well I'm 53 and wife (50) and I try to fit in 3-4 sessions (of 1 (weekday) to 6 (saturday/sunday afternoon) events) a week. good luck ttyl

I take a saw palmetto cap every night for that... does he get up at night to go P? especially more than once and/or every night? > he was wondering approx how much it may cost for self administered shots of 1/2cc (100-125mg/week) figure a bottle of testosterone around 65$ for 20 shots... plus arimidex and hcg... you can price them at http://www.alldaychemist.com/ ... typical dosage is 1/4 tablet of arimidex every other day or every 3rd day... and 500iu of HCG every week (in 2 itty bitty shots on the days just before the weekly testosterone shot). so it's really pretty cheap. gels and patches are considerably more expensive and don't necessarily work as well. and it's not hard to stick yourself... that first time or two can be a bit scary but with a small (25g) needle it doesn't hurt. ttyl

It's actually no the prostate it pinches a nerve if you have a poor seat. And that can lead to ED issues. http://radio.weblogs.com/0107064/categories/miscelleous/2005/10/05.html http://www.sandrablakeslee.com/articles/bicycle_seat_oct05.php Good bike seats are slotted to avoid this. Guest guest
He does have a specialized seat now but did ride for several years without one. Not sure if that caused damage and we're just now realizing there are consequences. > > >> He was surprised to hear what bicycling can do to the prostate and > that this can effect other issues like the thyroid. Guest guest
I can't thank all of you guys enough for your help and ideas. My husband and I are having some really great discussions about what's going on and getting a lot of ideas as to what he's going to have tested, what vitamins he's going to try to help at first and what Doctors we want to get involved. I'm so appreciative of your support to me and to him. Plus your help in examples of what is normal and what to look forward to. Thanks again!!! > > I have an issue and it's extremely delicate and upsetting to me plus I'm not even 100% sure that this is where to post it but after reading a few things on your forum thought you guys might be able to help me. > > My husband and I have been married for 5 months now and we seem to have a situation with us not having any sort of regular sex life. He's only 43 and very active with bicycling. Some days he seems rather tiered and worn out but I would associate that with anyone under possible stress. The other problem and the really difficult one for me is that he seems to not be turned on at all. Sex once a month seems to be ok for him and yet I know from past experience this isn't normal. Just to be clear because I'm obviously also having issues now from this, I'm not fat, over weight, ugly or unwilling. I'm 29 and active and don't want him upset or discouraged. I'm not interested in making him feel bad or hurting him but deep within me I just know this isn't normal. You'll have to forgive me I'm sure there's more information necessary to give here but I don't know what to add so please ask me questions and give me advise. > > Are there homeopathic things he can take? Are there things I can do? How do I broach this subject without crushing him? I want better for us and I know he's defensive, how could anyone not be? I know this must be hard for all of you so what did you guys do to recognize it? Last night he swore he was normal and healthy and that everything is in my head so how can I kindly show him once a month is not normal for a guy this young? > > Please help me and him and us. Guest guest
I agree with the Phil's reply. But I bet you he does have low T and if it is prolonged he will have more problems associated with it. Finding out why he has low T is the first step and then if it turns out that it is age related, then there is hope and you can be involved as well. =] > > > From: ntamez28 <ntamez28@...> > > Subject: Lack of sexual activity > > > > Date: Monday, October 5, 2009, 4:17 PM > > I have an issue and it's extremely > > delicate and upsetting to me plus I'm not even 100% sure > > that this is where to post it but after reading a few things > > on your forum thought you guys might be able to help me. > > > > My husband and I have been married for 5 months now and we > > seem to have a situation with us not having any sort of > > regular sex life. Guest guest
Your welcome do keep us in the loop on how it goes and just remember the bike part is just one thing that can cause a problem. Doing labs will show the story. Bike seats injuries cause erectile issues but do not ordinarily diminish T levels, sex drive, energy, etc.
Guest guest
Good point yes if his Testosterone levels are low it's best to find out why he is low before going on Testosterone meds. Once one goes on TRT you can't find out why your low. In my story you can see how it took me 23 yrs to figure this out after seeing one Dr. after the other for yrs I wish today I had the money I spent on them. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 Co-Moderator Phil > From: vadielunn <trance325@...> > Subject: Re: Lack of sexual activity > > Date: Wednesday, October 7, 2009, 1:59 AM > I agree with the Phil's reply. There is also sleep apnea that can cause one to get up and go to the bathroom once to several times at night. Sleep apnea causes cortisol to rise as a response to lack of oxygen as well as adrenalin (fight or flight response). The rise in these hormones increases kidney production filling the bladder faster. After getting on a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, my regular nightly trips to the bathroom almost completely stopped and I usually have 1-2 glasses of water before I go to bed. -- Steve - dudescholar4@...
