Guest guest
Good luck. I haven't heard that Arimidex is too much of a problem with insurance. Giving bigger shots makes your Estradiol go higher and then you crash after about 2 weeks. It is common sense that if you increase the amount of Testosterone there is more that can be converted to E2. Common sense isn't so common with HRT. ________________________________ From: noonanjg <jgnoonan@...> Sent: Monday, August 31, 2009 5:57:28 PM Subject: Arimidex Status My insurance company rejected my doctor's request for Arimidex for me. According to the nurse who I talked to, they deemed it " not medically necessary " . There is an appeal process, which I will undertake. I also had an appointment today with a urologist about an unrelated issue. I talked to him about it and he said it is near impossible to get them to approve it. I called AstraZeneca to see if they could be of assistance, and they gave me the number to wholesale pharmacy that might be cheaper. I also spoke to a nurse there and AZ has no trials or plans in the works to get FDA approval for men. This amazed me since so many of the folks on this board and others are using it. I will appeal my HMO's decision. THe urologist said they try to control the estrogen uptick by giving bigger shots spaced out further apart, but that didn't make much sense to me at all. Guest guest
You can always order online from Delhi, India. 14 tablets for under $25. You will have to pay about $25 for shipping, so I order several packages as a time. I got 56 tablets for $123 delivered. At 1/4 tab every other day, that's 448 days. $ 0.27 / day if I did the math right. India does not honor Astra-Zenica's patents and it is lawfully manufactured there. It is called Altraz or generic anastrozole. alldaychemist dot com > > My insurance company rejected my doctor's request for Arimidex for me. Guest guest
My insurance pays for arimidex with a $20 copay. I take 1/4 pill every other day, so I only take four pills a month. I think it is around $12 dollars a pill, so my insurance is only paying about $28 per month, so if they didn't pay anything it wouldn't break me to have to pay for it myself. bjesplin > > > > My insurance company rejected my doctor's request for Arimidex for me. Guest guest
Your problem is HMO when I first asked my Dr. for Arimidex he danced around it until I got mad after trying a bunch if things this did not work. He finely told me he did not want my BCBS asking him why he was giving me a med for women. When I filled it the women at the drug store told me they covered it and they sell it to more men then women. The best price I hear is through the Co.'s that sell it for research. http://www.researchstop.com/anastrozole.html Get a needle and take it out with the needle you can get a more actuate dose this way and take it by mouth. Guest guest
Good point but for some of use we need a bigger dose I do about 200 mgs a week of Depo T but to keep E2 levels down I do my shots every 3 days 80 mgs my labs are great I stay at about 800 for Total T. If I do less the lower levels of Testosterone don't support my joints and muscles so for me it's a small price to pay to have to take Arimidex to keep E2 levels down and feel better on a higher dose of Depo T. But then again I am the kind of man that eats up the T as fast as I take it not to many men like this I have met some. Guest guest
I went to the pharmacy today and had them give me 8 pills which I paid for out of pocket. I cut them in 4s and will take .25mg a day. I figure it has to be better than nothing. With the Pfizer fine of $2b for promoting off label uses of drugs, I think we're all going to have a harder time getting these drugs paid for by our health care plans. I am not sure what the freak the FDA is doing. My urologist gave me Flowmax, and within 4 hours my head was congested, I had a powerful headache, I got the jitters and could not sleep. It seems to me that the only ones getting listened to these days are the drug companies throwing money at someone to get this stuff approved. This system is messed up! Sorry for the rant. I am going to appeal the decline but with the Pfizer thing, I doubt my healthcare plan will budge on it. Joe > > >> My insurance company rejected my doctor's request > > for Arimidex for me. Guest guest
When I was in the hosp. for heart by pass surgery they took a tub out of my penis one of many tubs I had in my body. When I could not void they put the tube back in to drain my bladder some times 4x's in a day. Then called in a Uro the told them to give me Flowmax it was good I heard he say this and I yelled at him from across the room I am not taking that shit for anyone give me a break I just got over heart sugary and feel like crap now you what to give me that shi* and make me feel worse. I was not voiding because the nurse needed to be there when I went to the bath room. I am the kind of person that can't go with someone watching me. Finely they got the message when I started to go into a urinal. I told this Uro not to send my BCBS a bill if this is the crap he pushes. Flowmax not only makes one dam sick from the sides but gives you ED. Guest guest
Phil: Quick question. If I take .25mg of Arimidex a day, how long do you think it will take to lower my estradiol? Thanks! Guest guest
I just read at Dr. 's forum that it takes 5 weeks for arimidex to reach its full effect so he says don't do labs on this for that time. I can't say I agree with him I find the best gage for this is involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. As for how long it takes depends on how high one is before going on it. I was above 90 pg/ml my Dr. started me on .5 mgs every other day and I tested again in 6 weeks it did not move down a bit. So he put me on .5 mgs everyday then in 2 weeks I got involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. I call this night time and morning wood. If one is tested over 50 pg/ml I tell them to take .5 mgs every other day until there wood comes back this means there at there best level. I tell them to keep taking this dose but it wood stops then they went to low. So I tell them to stop taking it until wood comes back then go back on it that day but do less .25 mgs every 2 or 3 days. This dose keeps most me in the right range and they keep having good night time and morning wood. I do labs every 8 weeks my SHBG is lower then most men 22 to I need to keep my Estradiol lower at about 15 to 18 pg/ml some times when my labs come it I am to high and have poor wood it's there but not a coat hanger. So I go between 2 x's a day to 3x's a day from time to time it's never the same dose to keep levels good from lab test to lab test. Estradiol is the hardest thing to keep leveled. So I keep a log on what I am taking and how I am feeling. On mornings I don't think I had wood I try to get it up before getting out of bed if I can't I know I am going to low. Going to high you get wood but not dam rock hard wood and some of us start to get sore and hard nipples or break out if a small rash it's different for each man so keeping a log on how your feeling high and low you are able in time to tell whats going on and when to adjust your dose. Guest guest
Thanks. This is what I needed. Another question. I was at the hemotologist about the high hematocrit and was telling him about the arimidex and he suggested I ask for tamoxifin which he said is an estrogen blocker and significantly cheaper than arimidex. Guest guest
No no good it's a drug that does not go well with TRT and if you only need 1/4 of a pill every 3 days where is the cost to much I am betting tamoxifin has bad sides. It works like clomid trying to get the brain to send more LH and FSH to the testis when your on TRT the testosterone shuts this down not a good mix to have one thing trying to undo the other. Info from this link. http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/sex_news_sports_funny_grok/eman_vs_tm\ an%3bjsessionid=7C5AF6C46F114FF2895069DB5948D7D2.hydra ----------------------------------------------- Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) Tamoxifen is also an anti-estrogen. It started out as a means of treatment for breast cancer. Tamoxifen works in a similar fashion to that of clomiphene in that it binds competitively to estrogen receptors throughout the body. It especially binds well to the alpha receptor that can promote breast tissue growth. It, like clomiphene, can increase LH and Testosterone, but not to the same extent. One could guess that by using a higher amount of tamoxifen, you could achieve the same LH boosting effects as those seen with clomiphene. However, in one study, no difference was found in terms of LH and Testosterone levels when men were given either 5 or 10 mg daily or 20 mg daily (4). If, however, these levels were increased even higher to 40 to 80 mg, the results may have been different. For now though, I’d say clomiphene is the better of the two in terms of elevating LH and Testosterone. What else is good about tamoxifen? It’s been shown to be beneficial to blood profiles by lowering LDL (5). It also has antioxidant properties as well as anti-yeast/viral effects. Last but not least, it’s been shown to be very effective at treating gynecomastia. With dosages of 40 mg per day it was shown to be effective in 80% of men with gyno. A dosage of 10 to 20 mg was also shown to be effective. (6,7) Personally, I’d use 20 to 40 mg per day if I wanted to prevent gyno. For an elevation in LH, however, I’d use around 80 to 100 mg per day. The half life of tamoxifen is five to seven days. The cost for Nolvadex is around $1.80 per tablet while the generic brand is about twenty cents cheaper. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Anastrozole (Arimidex) This drug is also used to treat breast cancer in post-menopausal women. It’s a very potent and selective inhibitor of aromatase activity and it’s the most effective of all the current aromatase inhibitors available on the market. Anastrozole can reduce estrogen to undetectable levels in men. It doesn’t have any effect on other enzymes because it’s so selective, thereby leaving hormones like cortisol, aldosterone, and thyroid at normal levels. One in vitro study compared the effectiveness of anastrozole to aminoglutethimide and formestane. Anastrozole was found to be 200 times more potent than aminoglutethimide and was more than three times more effective than formestane.(14) The superiority of anastrozole to formestane has also been demonstrated in vitro as well. Patients were given either 250 mg injections every two weeks with formestane or took a 1 mg tablet of anastrozole per day. Estrogen levels were measured after four weeks. Anastrozole reduced serum estradiol levels by 21% more than formestane. Estrone was reduced by 18% more with anastrozole. (15) So what about using this drug for an LH/Testosterone boost? In normal men, it was shown that 1 mg per day increased LH by 100% and Testosterone levels by 53-58%.(16,17) There’s been talk that this drug may lower estrogen levels too low and thus cause some adverse effects. One such effect would be an increase in LDL levels. However, the elevations that were seen were very small and thus wouldn’t be something to concern yourself with. Just remember that they’ve found little difference between using 1 mg or 10 mg, so the " more is better " approach doesn’t apply. If you wish to use this for estrogen suppression, try .5 to 1 mg per day. For an elevation of LH/Testosterone, try 1 mg per day. The cost of the drug is around $6.50 per tab. There is drug fraud in the USA which the FDA refuses to pursue since they consider that a " state " problem which they expect each state individually to address. To my knowledge, I've never gotten an incorrect drug in well over 10 years of buying internationally a dozen+ drugs a year. I have however gotten my prescriptions incorrectly filled twice at the locally pharmacy in the past year. They used immediately release blood pressure medicine instead of 24 hour timed release resulting in a large drop in blood pressure for the first half of the day and a large increase for the second half of the day. When I complained that the pills looked different, they assured me that they were just generic until I proved they wrong. Guest guest
The best bet to tell if you have the same drug or a similar drug would be to get a blood test of estradiol and see if it decreased significantly from a previous level. Generally, estradiol doesn't fluctuate significantly without losing a large amount of body fat or pharmaceutical intervention, though it can increase slightly after ejaculation. ~Xian > > > > > > > > > >> My insurance company rejected > > > > > my > > > > > > > doctor's request > > > > > > > > > for Arimidex for me. Guest guest
OK. Have you ordered from alldaychemist.com? When I went to order, I created a profile. I added the arimidex to the cart and went to check out. It asked for medical history and had a Dr. Levin prefilled in with a phone number. I am asking a tactical question because I am not sure what to do here. Do I leave that or do I put my dr. information in? I have a script for the medication. Just want to make sure I do it correctly.
