Guest guest
Could someone direct me to the newest information out there on use of Androgel and diminishing T levels? Also, any endos to recommend in Atlanta Georgia area that take traditional insurance? I'm running in high 300s/ low 400s on 8 pumps a day of Androgel. That is not bad and conservatively is probably in a safe zone. However, after several years on Androgel - I used to have higher levels with a much lower dose. My LH level is virtually zero. I go back to the doctor soon for levels and will see how I'm currently doing. Emotionally -- I'm often depressed and wonder if it is in relation to T levels at all. Historically -- I have felt better when levels were higher -- ideally, I'd like to be 450 or greater -- preferably 500 or 600, but last levels were high 300s. Looking for feedback or information about current options --- Libido wise -- i've got libido and interest, but do notice that erectile quality is not always as good at lower levels. Not really interested in being a guinea pig, but also wonder about long-term affects of lower T levels and testicular atrophy, etc. I ran in the 200s for several years and was later diagnosed with osteoporosis. Currently taking Fosomax for that. Also interested in feedback from those who may have had success persuading a conservative endo to consider more current treatment options. With regard to straight TRT - - -is there an advantage in switching over to a patch of a while or switching it up a bit, if the Gel isn't as effective as it once was ? Guest guest
My experience with patches and gels is that they did nothing for me. Patches and gels are the conservative approach doctors take first. If that doesn't work they usually switch to injections. Guys who inject have the most success using 100mg weekly and most usually self inject. jonfleetmac <jonfleetmac@...> wrote: Could someone direct me to the newest information out there on use of Androgel and diminishing T levels? Guest guest
Hi Jonfleetmac and Welcome, I have been down this road your doing 10g's of Androgel and your levels are only 300 to 400 your skin is not letting the gel through. When I was on the gels I started having very bad joint and muscle pain so bad I had a hard time walking when I got up and my Dr. kept telling me I am getting older and it's Arthritis. Well I was house bound and my Dr. had to give me Testosteone shots 200mgs every 2 weeks on top of the gels to keep my levels up. I found Dr. 's web site and he is in my state he puts his testing and treatment on his site free for us and owr Dr.'s. I read this printed it and showed it to my Dr. and told him I want to do shots. I stated at 100 mgs everyweek and after 6 weeks my tests came back at 600 much better and my pain was gone. So the gels were not getting the testosterone to my joints and muscles. Also my Estradiol " E2 " was very high along with my DHT. We upped my T shots to 150mgs and my next test in 6 weeks only went up to 650. I feel better and most men do also in the upper 1/3 of there labs range. And by keeping E2 down between 10 to 30 best at 20 pg/ml I am on top of the world. Yet some men do fine at 40. So my Dr. added in HCG and this acts like LH and makes your testis make there own testosterone. Well after doing 500 IU's 3 times a week after my 15th shot my levels come in at 1200. My lab goes up to 1592 so this was great. For Quest labs this is about 750 to 800. So after being on TRT for 23 yrs being told I am primary I now know I am Secondary and my testis work. Today I have to treat my low Cortisol, Thyroid, Ferritin and Aldosterone levels do to being Hypopituitary. So after 25 yrs of this crap I am now feeling 100%. Here is Dr. 's web site www.allthingsmale.com go there and read the site also read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG update. We started up a new Forum for him it's about 4 weeks old and you can go there and post to him. http://74.54.133.233/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 A lot of guys after 3 or 4 yrs. on gels find it stops working for them and most of it is because there skin does not let it through there skin. Today I do my shots every 3 days shooting 70mgs of Depo T and the 2 days each in between I do 400 IU's of HCG. I started doing this after reading a post by one of Dr. Shippens men that said the Dr. was doing this to keep his E2 levels down and to stary leveled. So I use a small 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle shooting into my thigh. Doing your own shots is a pice of cake. As for Endo's I don't have anything good to say about them I have seen 7 in the last 25 yrs and not one was anygood on low testosterone. You can find a lot of men here that will say the same thing.
