Guest guest
It's not about insurance you need to find a Dr. that will treat you by how you feel not your labs. Stil a level of 400 or less is normal for a man 80 to 100 yrs old tell your Dr. this the normal range is made for men age 18 to 100 if your in the bottom % or the range your and feel bad your to low. Guest guest
I have tried to convey to 3 doctors how I am feeling. All they do is look at the number. I'M GD FRUSTRATED!WTF. Doctors don't care how you feel if your numbers are still in range, at least the ones that I have seen. > > > From: virtuosa150 <virtuosa150@...> > > Subject: Need to lower my T for HRT > > > > Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 8:27 PM > > I will be seeing a urologist in sept. > > for yearly followup concerning my past with testicular > > cancer. Guest guest
Jim, You may have already addressed this in another email, but have you explored the possibility of other hormones related to testosterone causing your problems? For instance, estrogen (particularly estradiol) can be elevated in men over 40, and beyond a certain point (above 30-35 pg/mL or so), it can blunt the effects of testosterone & /or keep testosterone levels lower than " normal " . Hence the men who explored the use of Arimidex to lower excess estradiol and bring testosterone back up. You can order blood tests for yourself without a doctor's appointment to see how much testosterone and estradiol you have. These results may shed light on other routes you might take to raise testosterone without playing the endless game of waiting for doctor approval for TRT. ~Xian > > > > > From: virtuosa150 <virtuosa150@> > > > Subject: Need to lower my T for HRT > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 8:27 PM > > > I will be seeing a urologist in sept. > > > for yearly followup concerning my past with testicular > > > cancer. Guest guest
Read " Finding a Male Hormone Dr. " in the files section at the home page on the left side. Call Dr.'s and ask questions try to fine a DO Dr. they are dam good with hormones as long as the DO Dr. is not an Endo. http://www.geocities.com/chrisgjsbcglobal (DOT) net/Osteopaths.html Co-Moderator Phil > From: virtuosa150 <virtuosa150@...> > Subject: Re: Need to lower my T for HRT > > Date: Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 1:48 PM > I have tried to convey to 3 doctors > how I am feeling. Guest guest
Phil, why is it that the Endo and Uro's who SHOULD be the best qualified T Docs, aren't? -Wilfred > > > > > > > From: virtuosa150 <virtuosa150@> > > > > Subject: Need to lower my T for > > HRT > > > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 8:27 PM > > > > I will be seeing a urologist in sept. > > > > for yearly followup concerning my past with > > testicular > > > > cancer. Guest guest
I just don't know every family Dr. out there feels they should know because of there title Endo's as it turns out they are only good for diabetes I have read many posts by people that seen one for there thyroid and they push Synthroid a T4 only med on them and when they tell the Dr. they don't feel well he offers them Prozac WTF Dr.'s that do this need to be sued. The only person that should be able to give out Anti-Depressant drugs a Dr. of Psychiatry. And today most of them before giving out AD meds will test Testosterone. In the UK and other Gov. health care Country's some or most of the Endo's know about Testosterone but have guidelines to follow as to when they can treat this. In all the posts I have read over the yrs. I have see only 2 post they have a good Endo. Guest guest
Xian, I fully realize that other hormones may be a part of all this. I am open to whatever a doctor says when I find one that is willing to help me. In my upcoming appt., I want the doc to do a full hormone screening. Then go from there. It's just that most docs that aren't that knowledgable simply look at the serum T #. If I'm barely in range, that's good enough for them. It doesn't matter if my # is that of an 85 year old man. I need to drive that # down so low as to make them take notice. It's insane. I believe this is a good path to take. The doc that I will be seeing has some knowledge of a mans hormones. This I know as fact. I will work from here. As for ordering the blood tests myself, I can't afford this. Money is tight. I must go through my insurance. Have a good one, Jim > > > > > > > From: virtuosa150 <virtuosa150@> > > > > Subject: Need to lower my T for HRT > > > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 8:27 PM > > > > I will be seeing a urologist in sept. > > > > for yearly followup concerning my past with testicular > > > > cancer. Guest guest
Phil, You hit nail on the head. Most Endos only are good with diabetes or womens hormones. They have no idea about a mans hormones. Most urologists only know about a mans prostate. If uros stated giving out TRT, they would find the prostate problem going away. They may put themselves out of business. LOL. I frequenty a testicular cancer website. I hear the same things I'm going through time and time again. It's sickening. In 10-15 yrs, HRT will be common practice. Guest guest
Phil, There is and interist in the physcians database that is somewhat close to where I live. He takes my insurance as well. I will be seeing my primary doc in 2 weeks to talk about my cholesterol problem. I want to get a refferal to see him. I believe he may be able to help me as well as the uro that I will be seeing in Sept. Guest guest
I hope that after I'm squared away that I will continue to try to help guys that are struggling. I see a path of hope with HRT. it's said that 13 million men suffer with the symptoms of low T. Can you imagine what the benefits to the GDP would be if a good percentage of that 13 million were helped? Can you imagine the number of wives that wouldn't get a good nights sleep because their husbands are horny? How about the savings in health costs? pitch this to Obama. maybe I'll run for president next time. My platform will be " TRT for every guy " . Who wouldn't vote for me? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: virtuosa150 > > <virtuosa150@> > > > > > > > > Subject: Need > > to lower > > > > my T for > > > > > > HRT > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, August 11, > > 2009, 8:27 > > > > PM > > > > > > > > I will be seeing a urologist > > in sept. > > > > > > > > for yearly followup > > concerning my past > > > > with > > > > > > testicular > > > > > > > > cancer. Guest guest
Phil, Research Glutamine supplementation for the muscle pain and recovery. Up your protein consumption a bit. I used to be an animal in the weight room, before my testicular cancer. I went from a lean (10% body fat) 6'4 " at 210 before the TC to 165 lbs, 6 months after the TC. I was skin and bone. This was 2002-2003. I then went from that in 2004 to a (14 % BF) 215 lb. to about 2 yrs ago. Then, everything STOPPED, and the low T set in. I've worked hard to get to where I am, and will not give up. Never. Although never meeting you personally, I feel a kin to your struggles. Work slowly and take care of your joints. Guest guest
Thanks I am on Glucosamine HCI 1500 MGS. – Chondroitin Sulface 1200 mgs. 2x/day. Dr. put me on it when I got out of the hosp. last Feb. It helps a lot my knees are much better. When I was 9 yrs old I broke my elbow it was called a powder fracture the Dr. at the time that fixed it was in Germany learning about fixing this type of break. My arm had to be re broken and they did sugary on it putting in pins. After all of this and about a yr. in a cast of and on my arm was just bone no muscle. I needed Therapy but dad was out of money so the we found a coach at the YMCA that gave me free Phy. Therapy and after this he got me into Olympic Weight lifting. At 16 I was the 3rd runner up in the Detroit Jr. Olympic Weight lifting competition. I would have own but my arm will not go straight and the judge said I did not have the weight up with my arms locked. I got dam mad over this and Quit and went into bodybuilding I went from 220 lbs down to 175 I am 5'11 " tall at age 21 I was real cut. I got married worked 58 hrs + a week had no time for the Gym. But I kept at it at home. I love working out and your story helps me to know I can get back. This dam low Testosterone did me in big time for the first 23 yrs I could not get any exercise was to fatigued. I guess my heart was also bad from the get go. Today I want to get down to 180 lbs and I what my body to be strong again. Even at age 65 I feel this can be done. I follow the Weight Watchers Program but my Dr. told me to eat mostly protein to help my body heal from heart bypass sugary but lose weight. Guest guest
There's no reason why a man your age couldn't build some muscle if his hormones are up to snuff. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > From: virtuosa150 > > > > <virtuosa150@> > > > > > > > > > > Subject: > > Need > > > > to lower > > > > > > my T for > > > > > > > > HRT > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, > > August 11, > > > > 2009, 8:27 > > > > > > PM > > > > > > > > > > I will be seeing a > > urologist > > > > in sept. > > > > > > > > > > for yearly > > followup > > > > concerning my past > > > > > > with > > > > > > > > testicular > > > > > > > > > > cancer.
