Guest guest
, I too get a severe bloating with pronounced varicose veins, about 2 weeks prior to my period. I've had varicose veins since I was 18 (Mother and Grandmother had them quite bad too), but they seem much more pronounced now with the hyperT. Any other hypers also have varicose veins? Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We have had a couple people write with unusual symptoms. ABerry wrote: I had no eye problems till I started taking medications for hyperT. The treatment has been worse than the disease. Any help for eye puffinessf? And Lori (BanjoBoyd) wrote: I've been having a twitching in my eyelid for about 3 weeks. Is there a vitamin or mineral for help with this? I'm pretty sure that the eye problems that accompany thyroid problems are nutritional in origin. I have had many eye problems including: itching edges of my eyelids, feeling of grit under my eyelids, and twitching of my eyelids and muscles around my eyes. The first two problems responded to taking B1 and B2 along with the copper and other minerals. I had to take a lot of the B vitamins and was taking up to 500 mg of each per day. I would hope that other people would not take that much or need to, but I feel that most eye problems will respond to the B1 and B2. The MSM sulfur is also supposed to help with eye problems and told me that it was helping her father's cataract problems. It's important to take a B-complex, plus extra B1 and B2 at the same time. I recently had a lot of twitching in my eyes, but yesterday it seemed to disappear. I'm not sure why. Here are the supplements that I have changed recently and maybe there is some connection: I was taking the horsetail silica and Helen Breeden brought information to the group that you shouldn't take it everyday like I had been doing. I stopped taking it about 8 days ago. Also, I was recently stopped taking MSM sulfur for reasons I'll detail in another post. That was about 2 days ago. I have read that twitching in the eyes is an indication of magnesium deficiency, but I've been taking lots of magnesium for a long time. My intake of that has not changed recently. I will continue to take note and see if I can determine what caused the twitching to stop. I'm sure it is a result of too little or too much or some supplement that I'm taking. Ann, what thyroid drug are you taking? We'll can find out if other people are getting the same reaction from the drug. It's also possible that your symptoms coincidentally began at the same time as starting the drug, and there is no causal relationship. More than likely though there is some deficiency. I would really like to get more information about how exactly the drugs, tapazole and PTU, decrease the thyroid hormone. Anyone know? ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyone know? >> I'm leaning more toward strictly alternative treatment The PTU makes me sicker than the disease itself. The endo says I'm very sensitive to it's effects. Even though my TSH is only .004 I'm gaining weight and not having symptoms. Probably you'll think I crazy but I disolve a tablet of PTU in a jug of water and drink the jug of water. And do that only every other day. Haven't got anyone's thoughts on that. The endo would probably think I'm brain damaged. I'll try the B1 and B2 for my eyes. Already taking MSM. The alternative doctor said he'd try giving a high dose of Iodine and see if that would do the trick. Any one have any experience with that? I definitely want to know more about it before I try it. Without looking anything up I guess the PTU interfers with the thyroid getting Iodine. And without Iodine your going to get an enlarged thyroid...don't you think. And you're still going to have antibodies attacking your thyroid and eye muscles. Well, only one things for sure, I've got to stop eating like a horse. It's hard to do. One good thing has come of all this....My arthritis is not as bad. No more shoulder pain. My feet are still sore but I think it is from the years of damage done previously from the autoimmune disease. Got a protocol from Biotics Research for Thyroid Hyper-function I'll type it out: excuse my typos and this long Email. l. predisposing factors: a. iodine insufficiency or excess b. hormonal imbalance, rule out a thyroid space occupying lesion c. food allergy/sensitivity d. drinking water containing halogens (floride and chlorine) Dietary suggestions: a. drink at least 8 full glasses of pure water daily (no well water or water containing flouride or chlorine.) b. avoid alcohol, refined carbohydrate, dairy products, citrus, processed foods, gluten containing grains and caffeine containg foods such as coffee, tea, cola and chocolate. c. eliminate hydrogenated fats and oils. Increase raw and fresh oils. d. Increase raw foods (especially in the cabbsbe family), complex carbohydrates and quality protein. Primary supplemental support: a. Bio-AE Mulsion Forte 2 drops 4 times a dayfor one week, then 1 drop 4 times a day in bottled water (I think that is just A and E supplement) b. cytozyme THY 3 tablets 3Xday with meals. (guess that is thymus gland) d. Iron and copper free multi 2 tabs 3 times a day e. LI-Zyme Forte - 2 tablets, 3 times a day (that is natural lithium) 4. Secondary Supplemental Support A. (and my thyroid gland also swelled). I tried tapazole and that made the puffiness at least as bad or maybe worse. It no longer matters if I am hyper or hyper the puffiness stays. Guest guest
le I have had pancreatitis like and agree with what she says. You might also be feverish and have a high temperature and the pain is horrible once it gets to a head. I would get it checked out to be safe, perhaps you can stop it getting worse if you go to the doctors armed with some info of what it could be. My doctor said I had indigestion and I ended up in emergency twice because I was ignorant of what was making me ill - until the hospital told me. I had stones in the bile duct but didn't go for the surgery as I am trying to sort myself out non-invasively. I take Taurine to help my pancreas out - someone on this site recommended it to me and I feel better for taking it. Good luck anyway. Guest guest
It sounds like you need to work on your liver!!! When I had me gb I couldnt eat anything with more than 2 grams of fat, and NO oils or meats whatsoever. But i also had gb attacks and the stones showed up on ultrasound. Do you take enzymes with your meals? That would be a good idea also. I have never had the stones removed by laser, I dont know if they do it here or how often, it was never even discussed with me, but I would think if they cant see the stones, they probably wont consider that. Try taking some liver supporting herbs, like milk thistle and dandelion. If there is an herb store near you they may have some liver teas. Guest guest
Taurine is another supplement I will consider.. The lemon and oil (cheap), is really doing the job at the moment though, along with a very careful vegan diet. A homeopath told me about the lemon and oil, and it does work, though tastes a bit icky. I'd rather icky than being sick though!! Beta-TCP is excellent! I couldn't go without it. It also has Taurine in it. It's a bile thinner, and it's for people who have gallstones. Guest guest
Ta . The enzymes sound like a very wise idea. Liver supporting herbs also. I've bought them in the past and found not much relief, except through peppermint and horsetail in the form of loose teas, brewed in a small tea pot. I'm trying not to give all my spare money to the herbal 'drug' companies, but may consider some sort of alcohol free herbal supplement again. ----- Original Message ----- From: Schurdevin gallstones Sent: Monday, June 02, 2003 10:55 PM Subject: Re: Unusual Symptoms It sounds like you need to work on your liver!!! Guest guest
Thanks for this Susie, but I'm in Australia, and I probably can't get it here. I will ask though. Do you have an ingredient list, and is the product natural? Hello, I don't see why you can't get it in Australia. The company that puts it out is called Biotics Research. I'm sure that you can directly write to the company. Last time that I looked, they have a website. I buy mine through a chiropractor in California. Only some kind of healthcare professional can sell it. However, I'm sure that this company can help you find it or possibly put you in contact with someone in Australia. Yes, it's all natural. Here are the ingredients: Taurine, 100 mg; Vitamin C, 60 mg; Pancrelpase, 50 mg; Beet concentrate (aerial part, roots and tubers), 100 mg; Superoxide Dismutase (from vegetable culture+), 20 mcg; Catalase (from vegetable culture+), 20 mcg. It goes on to say other things about it being organically grown, but it does also say that it's whole beet concentrate from organically grown beets. Hope this helps! See, I live in Texas, but I get mine from a chiropractor in CA. like I said. Anyway, back in 2001 I was reading Dr. Mercola's website and he was talking about it, that it helped people who had gallstones and thinned their bile and helped them handle fats. So I started researching it and found a chiropractor in CA. who carried it. I explained to him, Dr. Springer, that I knew 100% that I had gallstones from an ultrasound in Dec. 2000. So it was okay that I get it. That's the reason that you have to purchase it from a healthcare professional because they need to know if you have gallstones.
