Guest guest
Thanks, Pam. There's a lot of info there. I'm getting educated. Funny I never heard any doctor mention "Samter's"; or anything about any triad. I am now considering ASA desensitizing, and maybe another polypectomy....if I have to...I guess. My sense of smell is important to me. I have some of it back now, and I don't want to ever completely lose it again. A couple summers ago, I was driving my truck around with a cracked fuel line spraying gasoline on the engine. Apparently, it really reeked of gas, but I couldn't detect it at all! Scary. Guest guest
Hi Buzz and welcome, thanks for sharing your story! If you go under the links section that is the library. There are many files there, a lot of information. Some are links, some are old posts, some are articles, etc. It is quite extensive. Some of it may be " old " or outdated. I have tried to find someone to help update it to no avail, so sorry about that. But on the other hand there is not a whole lot of new information about Samters so most of it is still helpful. You can most certainly ask questions you have, it's just that you will be better information to ask specific questions if you go under the links to section G, the aspirin desensitization area. For instance, Ken West wrote a " primer " there on desensitization with references. All of these things are quite helpful and will educate you well -- Hope this is helpful! Guest guest
Hi Rob and welcome, I don't feel your levels are all that great in my case levels like this on gels did not get the Testosterone to support my joints and muscles. When I was on gels I rubbed half on one side then did the other. First thing I did when I got up was to take a shower then after shaving and knowing I was dry. I put Testim one tube on my upper arms and shoulders and down my back as far as I could reach then I rubbed it in well. Then I did the other side. With Andorgel you do the same thing but don't rub it in just spread it around and let it dry from wet. I never do labs after putting on the gels you can spike your levels way up so on the morning of labs take a show get the old gel off go do your labs the put on the gel. If you can't do this put on the gel in the morning making sure your not getting any on the spot they take the blood. Then wait 4 o 6 hrs to do your labs. For the first 4 to 6 hrs the testosterone is just under your skin and going into your blood slow so doing labs to soon can spike up your labs. When I was on gels I have very sore joints and muscles so bad I was house bound and when I stood up I could not stand straight up my back was killing me and other parts of my body. My Dr. was thinking it was arthritis I posted this here about my pain and Norton got back to me saying he had the same problems and switched to shots and his pain was gone. I did this and my pain was gone so I feel my levels were not getting high enough and on shots my levels come up. Then I added HCG to my shots doing this my Testis started working and my levels doubled this is how after being told I am Primary I found out I am Secondary. My testis were the size of small grapes. I suffered on TRT for 23 yrs never feeling 100% after finding out I am Secondary meaning I am Hypopituitary I now treat my low Cortisol, Thyroid, Ferritin, Iron and Aldosterone levels and I feel fine. You can read my story at this link I think all men on TRT need to test there cortisol levels for bad Adreanls and there Thyroid most men I talk to find they have them problems over and above low Testostreone. I like to give men this link to read in this it states to get your Total T levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range I keep my levels up between 750 to 850 to feel good the top of my labs range is 1100. And it states to keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html I also tell men to go to Dr. 's site and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG update adding HCG helps a lot and gets your libdo back up. Dr. puts this out there free for you and your Dr. he is one of the best on men's hormones. www.allthingsmale.com Now for your high levels of Estradiol most of the men use Arimidex to keep this down. I have problems for yrs before finding out about high levels of Estradiol in men. I had ED, trouble reaching an orgasm, sore and hard nipples, felt hot all the time and would sweat day and night, I looked red like I had a sunburn on the upper parts of my body and face, I have panic attacks in the middle of the night and I had a rash on my sides of my body just under my arms and on the back of my legs that nothing help to get rid of it. When I tested my Estaraiol E2 my levels were over the top of the range >90. I went on Arimidex after trying all kinds of things with my Dr. that did not work. He did not want to give me arimidex because it was for women and he did not want my BCBS calling him asking why he wants me on this. When I finely talked him into giving me it, the drug store told me they sell a lot of this to men and my BCBS paid for it. Here is a copy of a post I did on how to not go to low on Arimidex and here are some links to help you with your Dr. is he will not give it to you. http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm ========================================================================= What I found is if you go to low taking arimidex, it's the length of time your to low, if your too low say for 8 weeks it can take your body a longer time to make more Estradiol. Bottom line is to know how not to go to low. Keep a log on your dose and how you feel men going to low can't get it up taking Viagra. I went to low when I first tried Arimidex and did not know about going to low or how one feels to low, so I was low a good 8 weeks. I did not know I was low until my next labs. The best gage I have found to control your Estradiol levels is to gage your night time and morning wood. At good levels or what I call the sweet spot you get your night time and morning wood back so strong it will wake you up and you can hang a coat on it. Most men do good taking .25 mgs or 1/4 of a 1mg. pill, I use a pill cutter to cut the small pill in half then I stand it on the cut end and use a single edge razor to cut this in half. A good way to take arimidex is by how high your levels are. I tested over 90 pg/ml so we tried doing .5 mgs every other day after 8 weeks my next set of labs showed it did not move below 90, test said >90. So we did .5 mgs. every day in about 2 weeks I got some strong night time and morning wood back after not having them for many yrs. I kept doing this dose and in 8 weeks my next set of labs said <20 back in the day labs were like this they did not have to good labs we have today they could not read lower the 20. My Dr. told me this looks to low to stop taking the Arimidex. The one thing I noticed was my wood stopped and stopping the Arimidex my wood came back in about 7 weeks my next test at 8 weeks was 24 pg/ml. So we went back on the Arimidex but the Dr. told me to take .5 mgs every 3 days I was on this dose not a week and lost wood. This is when I figured out going to low you lose wood. And the longer your too low the longer it takes to get levels back up. I stopped the arimidex right away and got my wood back in 4 days. I then after playing with the dose for a time found the best dose is .25mgs every 2 to 3 days. So lets say your labs are less the 50 pg/ml if your take .5 mgs you can go down so dam fast your miss the sweet spot of your wood and go to low. It's best with lower levels 50 and under to do less Arimidex .25mgs every 2 days if later your lose wood when it comes back go to every 3 days. I have found estradiol is the hardest hormone to control, it goes up or down from month to month some times I need .25mgs every 2 days other times I need ..25mgs everyday most of the time I do well on every 3 days. So between wood and labs I do great and so do most of the men I have told this to. I keep a log on how much I am taking and how I feel. Doing this and reading back in my log I was able to tell when I was going to high or to low my Dr. lets me dose my arimidex by how I feel. Over the yrs. I have posted this story until I am blue in the face. Guest guest
Phil: You mentioned something below that caught my attention. I am suffering from the same symptoms: very red neck and face and arms, skin is hot to the touch all the time. My wife says I'm so red that it looks like my head is going to explode. I am on arimidex .25 every two days and my night time and morning erections seem to be OK although not rock hard. Nothing I have done has gotten rid of the red face. Any ideas?? I will be going for new blood work in two weeks with estradiol being one of the elements tested. Thanks! Guest guest
You have good T levels except the amount of estrodial is too high in relation to the amount of testosterone you have. One needs to have proper evaluation of estrodial and a physicain that will work on modulating this with arimdex as well as properly evaluating the adrenals/thyroid.. > > Hi All, I am brand new to this group.I am a 63 and was diagnosed with > hypogonadism about four years ago. Guest guest
Joe I don't remember what your TRT is can you update me and show labs. And how long have you been on Arimidex. When I was on shots every week my E2 levels were a dam bigger problem then doing shots every 3 days. On a shot every week I needed .5 mgs every other day to keep my levels down when I added in HCG then I needed 1mg every other day to keep my levels down. I find doing a smaller shot more often holds this down and I get by doing .25mgs every 2 to 3 days when I am on every 3 days and get weak night time and morning wood I know I am on the higher side so I drop back down to every other day. I can't hang a coat on it it's not good. Try doing this take .25mgs everyday until your wood is strong and your not red. If you lose the wood just stop taking it and drop back to every other day with it comes back. I have to do this a lot take more until wood stops from going to low on arimidex. It is just the hardest hormone to control there is. Guest guest
I am on 175mg shot every week. I will try the .25 every day and see what happens. Thanks as always for the advice. I'll post my latest labs as soon as I get them. My doctor still will not let me do the shots at home. She's sticking to the " it's a controlled substance " bit. It is a real pain. I have to go in to get the shot once a week and now I have to go to the hemotologist once a month (maybe twice, he's not sure yet) to get a unit of blood drawn due to the high hematocrit. What a pain in the butt! Thanks, Joe > > > > > > > From: rjamestemple <rjamestemple@> > > > > Subject: New guy here. > > > > > > > > Date: Monday, October 12, 2009, 9:36 PM > > > > Hi All, I am brand new to this > > > > group.I am a 63 and was diagnosed with > > > > hypogonadism about four years ago. Guest guest
All your Dr. is doing is what mine did to me making money on my inconvenience. I finely told him if people that are Diabetics can do shots them self's I can and I don't need to use a dam big needle like you use I can do my own shots using a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg needle much like the Diabetics use and shoot into my thigh. I told him if he will not do this for me I will find a Dr. that will. He gave in and I have been doing this for yrs now had have dam good levels. I your doing this dam big shot every week what is your cost you can get 200 mgs / ml in a 10 ml vile that will last you doing half your dose 2x's a week for 11 weeks for about $120. And doing this keeps you more leveled and holds down your blood getting to thick and keeps your Estradiol levels down. She is handing you a line of Bull many guys out there do there own shots tell this and ask her to show you where is says she can't let you do this. Guest guest
Phil: Sorry, forgot to mention that my last blood work had my estradiol at 119 (it was the Quest test you recommended). I started the Arimidex in early September. I'm going to start taking the .25 every day and follow your guidance below. I am going for new blood work with estradiol on 10/28 so we can see where it is then. My T levels on the 175mg per week were excellent. I'll keep you posted.
