Guest guest
Hi, I'm not Phil, but I might be able to field a few of these for you: > Someone asked me when I posted lats time, wether I had his lab results? > I dont sorry. They dont give you those here, but the Dr said his Free > T level in January this year were 180 and went on the T pill for his > low level.s in June after using the Provirion T pill one a day, its > dropped down further to being that of being only 80(yes 80!) in June 6 > months after starting out on the TRT pill. Proviron is basically DHT with an extra methyl group at C17. As such, it will provide negative feedback to the pituitary and help to shut down the HPTA. DHT and its derivatives are about 4 times as androgenic as testosterone, but this may not be enough to compensate for the loss of endogenous T. If this had been coadministered with clomid, the results would have been much more satisfactory. > 1. The Dr will obviously do the routine T levels thing which includes > the LSH and FSH(I remember this were part of the blood test he did > last time) Are there ANY additional blood tests or ones we shoudl ask > them to do as well? T, Free T, SHBG, LH, FSH, DHT, PSA and estradiol are the main ones. Estrone, progesterone and many of the metabolites can be usefull as well, but they are more for troubleshooting other problems. > 2. I read (if I understand this correctly) that once a man goes on the > T injections(which we are planning hubby to go on) it will shrink his > testicles over time? OMG I don't think he will like this idea.I guess > no man would probably want that to happen. So thats why the HCG thing > comes in then to counteract this from happening ...am I correct? If fertility is not a major concern, a cheaper way to go is Clomid. Clomid is an SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modifier). It works by blocking the negative feedback signal at the pituitary, so LH levels are not lowered. HCG is more expensive and more effective. It also raises FSH which induces spermatogenesis. Many men are on HCG and Clomid. > Also , in lay terms what is HCG please...can you tell me and also give > me the practical side of this...is it expensive, really working and If > he takes this , can he inject himself with it? Hubby is scared of > needles and Its already a prospect that he only now are starting to > accept since wanting a decent sex life means more to him than the > short lived discomfort of needles. SZo yes, I think he will end up > some day injecting himself . Untill then, there are some decent Dr's > working in the army camps in Afghanistan that can assist. > HCG is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. It is actually the chemical that we test for to confirm pregnancy. Simply put, it tricks the pituitary into secreting LH and FSH. LH, Leutenizing Hormone, causes the Ledig cells in the testicles to produce testosterone. In females, it induces ovulation. FSH, Follicle Stimulating Hormone, causes the Sertoli cells in the testes to make sperm. It signals the ovaries to bring 1 or more immature eggs to maturity. Both LH & FSH will make the testicles swell and become more sensitive, but FSH will result in a larger volume as it increases the volume of seminal fluid. 3. We tried to get his T levels checked whilst his over there, but > first they lost the blood sample , then it expired before they could > send it of, then they said it cant be done because blood only lasts 72 > hours and you gotta have it checked within that window frame period, > and blah-blah..still 4 months later and no results on this. Let me know...pls? As for longevity, conservation of fluids and bringing it to the brink of orgasm and backing off, repeatedly, and doing kegel exercises will do a lot more for him that just having a quick wank every day. Of course even that is better than total inactivity. Serum levels of testosterone do drop after ejaculation, and oxytocin and prolactin rise. This is what causes the refractory period. You may want to have a discrete liaison before testing to prevent him from going in for testing with artificially high T levels. Congratulations on having your sweetie come home, and tell him thanks for his efforts in Afghanistan. I for one really appreciate it. Obligatory disclaimer... This is not medical advice. Please seek proper medical supervision before attempting any program of treatment. Guest guest
Wups, slight correction. Proviron has a hydroxy group at C17, not a methyl. Most oral agents have a alkyl group at C17, which makes them harder for the liver to break down. This includes ethinlyestradiol, the stuff that is in most birth control. > > > > Hi guys, > > me again with a womans propsective or ignorance rather:-) > > Sorry its been a while since I'v posted and I'v so,so much apreciated > > all you that replied with input back then. > > Hubby is going to be home in 2 weeks time, and I am quite excited and > > anxious at the same time with the T journey that lies ahead of us. > > > > Someone asked me when I posted lats time, wether I had his lab results? > > I dont sorry. Guest guest
No sex 24 hrs. before labs and do the labs first thing in the morning. Here is a link of labs I tell men they need at my Thyroid forum. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=7059 Taking Testosterone pills are not good they are hard on the liver over the long hall. If he has had a head injury this might be why his levels are low are boys are coming home from the war with a bad Pituitary Gland do the road side bombs or head injury's. Yes men taking any kind of testosterone the brain sees this in the blood and slows down sending the LH and FSH messages to the testis to make testosterone and they stop working as much and get smaller. Bu if his testis don't work and this is way he is low they will get smaller in time anyway. HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) acts like the LH and FSH sent to the testis to make more testosterone and men that have a pituitary problem where the pituitary is not sending enough LH and FSH to the testis to make testosterone the HCG acts like LH and FSH and makes the testis make Testosterone. Still even men with testis problems do better on HCG because there are other cells in your body and brain that work from LH and FSH. So HCG keep them working. Don't be sorry for being very personal get him home have sex do the test in a few days. Any thing you need just ask. Guest guest
Hmmm, what part of the country do you live in? Out here on the West Coast, they are very stingy with testosterone, that's why I was suggesting going in with levels at their norm, not their highest. I notice that on the East Coast, docs seem to be much more aggressive with treatment so it makes sense to go in with levels at the highest levels they can reach naturally. The list of tests I suggested were just about T levels. If there is suspected head trauma, all of the levels mentioned in Phil's like are good to add, and you would also want to add HGH & IGF-1. If HGH/IGF-1, teststosterone and thyroid hormone levels are all low, it is s good indication that further testing should be done for pituitary problems. I think that Phil & I are both in the bad pituitary gland club. It kinda sucks, but once you get treatment for it, your quality of life improves dramatically. > > > From: sunbeatle0706 <conniek@...> > > Subject: Almost time for lour journey > > > > Date: Saturday, September 27, 2008, 5:28 AM > > Hi guys, > > me again with a womans propsective or ignorance rather:-) > > Sorry its been a while since I'v posted and I'v > > so,so much apreciated > > all you that replied with input back then. > > Hubby is going to be home in 2 weeks time, and I am quite > > excited and > > anxious at the same time with the T journey that lies ahead > > of us. > > > > Someone asked me when I posted lats time, wether I had his > > lab results? > > I dont sorry.
