Something like that, yes. I draw from my vial with a 13GA and inject with a

22GA. Some of the guys inject with a 25GA or a 27GA.

Yes I use 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle to do my shots into my thigh been doing this

for yrs. My labs never changed going from a 25g x 1 " lg. needle. And I have

less scaring and pain.

Yes they did now this is old and Dr. Shippen " The Testosterone Syndrome " book.

Now does T shots every 3 days using a 29g pin shooting SubQ. Into the fat on

his sides he says doing this keeps his E2 levels down and he feel leveled. A

lot of use do shots every 3 days I do but I do them into my thigh using a 27g x

1/2 " lg. needle I get the same results as Dr. Shippen it keeps my E2 down and me

leveled. So do good doing shots 2 x's a week. It's the lower dose that is

keeping the E2 spike down.

Now I have a follow-on question:

The last two injections I gave myself, right and left thigh, were

somewhat painful and left both legs with what I could describe

as " bruised. " I have a knot at or physsically below, closer to the

knee, the injection site. Any speculation as to the cause? When I gave

myself injections at the doc's office this did not occur.

What size needle are you using when I shoot I try to stay near the middle on my

thigh off to the side not in the side of my thigh but just off the top to the

outside. If I use a big needle with a big dose I get this lump. I use

200mgs/ml of Depo T so a 100mg. shot is only .5 mls. The amount is smaller.

I'm using a 22G 1 1/2 " needle with no problem. I choose the same injection sites

as Phil. Sometimes I bruise but not often. Sometimes I bleed a little, sometimes

no.

I plan on switching to a 25G or 27G needle but I just bought about a years

supply of 22G syringes so may as well use these up first.

I'm guessing you were too close to the knee and hit something you shouldn't

have. When I was taking those 2cc monthly shots in the butt sometimes it would

feel like a tube of concrete in my ass.

I use a 1 " 23G in my thigh. Sometimes I hit a blood vessel on the

way in. This hurts a bit and it also usually leaves a bruise I think

from the blood under my skin even though I don't draw blood when

fully inserted. Every now and then I nick or come very close to a

nerve and that is always easy to realize -- ouch a bit. I've never

had a knot or bump in my thigh after a shot but sometimes it does

ache a bit -- for a day or so.

These are just my experience. Hope all works well.

I draw with a 1 " 13G needle which is a lot bigger in diameter than the needle I

inject with.

A 25G needle is smaller in diameter than a 22G. I don't see the advantage in

using a 25G to draw with.

One thing for sure, I don't draw and inject with the same needle. You choose

and decide for yourself. I recommend drawing with a 13G and injecting with a 22G

or smaller. 1 1/2 " is a good length. It's what I use.

I would think it should be the other way around. Draw with a 22 gauge

and inject with a 25 gauge. Also, my wife got a shingles vaccination

yesterday at the pharmacy. It was sub Q and I asked if he had to draw

back to check for blood? He said no and also said you no longer have

to do that for IM injections either. The recommendations had been

changed. Has anyone else heard that? " "

I do subq with a 29g now, but when I was doing IM a 25g 5/8 " to both

draw and inject ( I didn't swap needles) worked just fine with no pain.

Most draw with an 18 or what's called a blunt made just for drawing. A

22 is actually okay on the bottom end of injecting size syringes and

okay. Most use a 23 some a 25.

Two weeks ago I must have puntured a small artery because as I drew

out the needle I squirted blood a good inch out of the puncture wound

and it took a while for it to stop. There was no bruising, though.

This is an area of caution. I draw back a little after I inject to make sure I

don't hit a vein. The last thing you want to do is inject this stuff into your

blood stream through a vein, artery, etc.

I absolutely agree. I went through the blood vessel; I did not end up

in it. There was no blood in the drawback before emptying the syringe.

An Update:

Today's injection went painlessly, only one minor glitch. When I

inserted the needle and pulled back on the plunger I pulled back some

blood into the needle. I removed the needle from my leg and got a new

needle and chose a new location on my leg.

Question: Should I have aborted the entire syringe full and started

over?

I haven't had it happen to me yet but I say to myself, as long as I can see

what's going on I wouldn't abort. If the syringe is too full of blood and you

can't see your air bubble then yeah, abort and start over.

I asked my doctor that question. He said he didn't like to waste

anything so just push the needle in a little further or pull it out a

little bit.

Do be careful about getting into a vein or artery. Heart failure can result and

you may lose some of the slow time release properties too. You see, it's not the

testosterone that's harmful but it's the oil that it is suspended in that can

cause heart failure.

All the more reason to consider SubQ injections in the belly.

My doctor wasn't too keen doing SubQ. He probably isn't aware that men are doing

it. Do you have a link to some documentation discussing SubQ for T?

No, sorry, I don't have a link to subq anywhere. My Dr told me to

switch to subq. Scuttlebutt on this site is that Shippen and Crisler

both have patients doing subq now.

I've been experimenting with subq T cyp injections for a few months

now. I do 20 mg into my belly, about once a week, in between my

regular IM injections. For me, 20 mg is about two day's worth, so I

might do a 20 mg subq injection, and then two days later do a 75 mg IM

in the thigh, which lasts me about 5 days. So far, I can't tell any

difference in the results between the two modes on injections.

However, I definitely prefer doing subq - it just plain hurts less.

Occasionally it will sting a bit, or the injection site might get a

bit sore.
