Guest guest
Hello, I have been lurking a long time and learning much from the list, but the cancer I was diagnosed with, multiple myeloma, has never come up in discussion. Just want to introduce myself so I can add a post or ask a question in the future. I thought i was very healthy 77 year old until blood started leaving my body. I was in ICU 3 days while the docs looked for the bleeding source, which was a large gastric ulcer, Then I had a PT CAT scan and they noted the 'suspicious' cells in my bones. It took awhile to get over the shock because there was no pain. I didn't want chemotherapy but the on-call oncologist said I'd better get with. In the short time of treatment with him and no success, I was fortunate to be accepted for a stem cell transplant at the Huntsman Clinic in SLC. I did very well with that and the 70% myelomw cells went down to -1% when I finished the treatment in Jan. My biggest challennge is to find food I can eat, because there's sugar in just about everthing, and I hear that wheat, corn and bread which were my staples, are on the 'bad' list. So I am hoping to learn more here about what can be eaten by a cancer patient. Joan Archiba
