Morning cortisol, what will it tell?

My endo has ordered a morning cortisol for some reason. Out of all the tests we

have run I have never done a morning cortisol. What is his purpose for this?

Testing pituitary function to send to me message of high cortisol in the

morning, or just checking stress?
