NEBIDO

Nebido seems to be a favorite with the health care system in the UK.

Some folks say it works well for them. There are lots who complain

though that the mix results in uneven levels over the long time it is

given for. It's a sort of cocktail with some short term release T

formulation, a mid term and long term component. Evidently in lots of

people these different formulations don't " burn " evenly and they end

up with low levels along the way. Most long term shots also have a

period of significant spike of high T which ends up with more

conversion to E2 which kills a lot of the effectiveness of the T. For

shots, most here prefer weekly shots of about 100mg. It's more even

with less E2 problems.

Nebido is simply testosterone undecanoate in a huge 1000mg injection.

Testosterone undecanoate is cheap, it requires minimal administration

from the point of view of the physician and maintenance is assured by

the longevity of the injection.

Oh and it is crap- in that it fails to work for many people.

Even though undecanoate has a very low conversion rate to estradiol

when given in such vast doses as is typical it still often results in

a doubling of estradiol and resultant problems with E2. It also

often results in a large rollercoaster effect and stabilizing the

dose take a vast period of time- as in two years upwards.

The perfect drug for a small minority of men and a LARGE majority of

lazy ass doctors!

P.S

You get this drug and you find out its profile is great in that it

only converts to E2 in small amount so do you say to yourself we can

really help men here?

No screw that you think I know lets put it in VAST doses so we can

make life easier and cheaper for the physician…..:(

My understanding is there is a mix of carriers for differential time

release over the length between injections.

To me looking at the research makes me suspect if they

were to inject it every month or 3 weeks the levels would

be far more stable. As it is the 3 month regimen is

the roll coaster over three months instead of 2 weeks

with T enathate.

Part of the problem is treatment protocols suggested

by the drug companies that suggest these overly long

spans between shots in my opinion. First it is too much

and then too little.

You are so right man, I took Pantestone 8 pills a day thats 40mgX8 and had no

results almost. It took Androgel to make things work good enough and that has

only been 2 years :-( after 6 on Pantestone crap undecanoate.

Too bad, I love this product. Hopefully it will get approved later

UPDATE 1-Indevus testosterone drug hits safety snag, shrs crash

Wed Jun 4, 2008 9:19am EDT

(Adds details throughout, share movement)

June 4 (Reuters) - Indevus Pharmaceuticals Inc (IDEV.O: Quote, Profile,

Research) said U.S. health regulators would ask for more safety data before

approving its injectable testosterone drug, Nebido, sending its shares crashing

68 percent.

The decision on approval of the drug was set to be taken later this month, but

will now be delayed by about two years as the company plans to conduct another

safety study and re-apply for approval in around 18 months, which would be

followed by six months of review.

Indevus, which has not yet received a formal request for additional data from

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, had previously applied for approval in

August last year.

Nebido treats male hypogonadism, a disorder in which testicles do not produce

enough of the male sex hormone testosterone.

Indevus said FDA's concerns were related to a reaction immediately following

injection of the drug, which could lead to coughing, shortness of breath, and in

some cases dizziness, flushing or fainting.

The company said it believes the concerns stem from the post-marketing adverse

event reports of the 1000 mg, or 4ml, dose of the drug, sold in Europe by German

company Bayer Schering Pharma AG (SCHG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research). Indevus

owns the U.S. rights to Nebido.

" We are very surprised and disappointed by the position the FDA is taking

regarding the safety profile of Nebido given the large European experience. Rare

coughing reactions have been well-described in the European product labeling of

Nebido, " Indevus Chief Executive Glenn said in a statement.

said the company will allocate resources to conduct the additional safety

study.

Shares of the Lexington, Massachusetts-based company fell to $1.31 before the

bell. They closed at $4.10 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Varsha Tickoo in
