The pressure is just below the rib cage where the colon passes. All gas moves as you describe, our small intestine empties into the colon/large intestine on the right, comes up and passes just below ribs to our left, then down, and out :-) When you are lying down there is less pressure of other organs etc. on colon, so it moves more easily, it seems. I believe the culprit is poor digestion due to lack of bile in some cases, but generally an imbalance in the digestive system due to the gallbladder not functioning. It can also be related to what you eat, how you combine what you eat, any number of things. I use digestive enzymes with my meals, this seems to help. A heating pad when lying down will help when you are uncomfortable. L.
