Guest guest
Hi , I had the PET Scan done this morning, not too bad, they injected me with something and had me lie still in a room for 40 minutes, I was not to move, talk or think too much. They checked my glucose level too, as they needed that to track the brain, then they walked me into another room and I went into the PET scan from the shoulders up for another 1/2 hour, they taped my head down, and again I could not move. They told me to relax but that is so hard when someone tells you to, don't you think? My body was doing involuntary jerking and twitching, and muscles in my thighs were really moving for awhile there. That didn't hurt the test though, as long as my head stayed still. We got home around noon and I slept all afternoon. I too am worried about the results, I half hope it shows nothing, kind of scary to have brain damage and three lesions. I hope the results are ready by the time I see my doctor on the 12th, then I will let you all know what happened, thanks for remembering and wishing me well, Hugs, Marta > From: BBHMM@... > > Hi Marta, Thank you for your support and the articles. Guest guest
PET scans were used in the early 90's by CFS researchers like Dr. Goldstein and they are diagnostic but not the best choice today. Al PET Scan > I recenty read in TIME magazine about PET (positron emission tomography) > scans. They apparantly screen your body's functionability. It says that > they detect abnormal processes by visualizing cellular activity. I wonder if > this might show anything significant in CFS patients at all? The test is > expensive... $2,000 - $3,000. Anyone familiar with this? I thought it was > interesting, anyway! > Laurel >
Guest guest
Hello everyone. I've been a " lurker " for several months. Are " PET " scans capable of showing anything other than cancer? How accurate is the test? Any risks in taking the test? Thanks for your help Carl
