Guest guest
Hi ciaran426 and Welcome, If you can get a copy of your tests and post them here with the ranges and units. When you see the next Dr. see if you can get these tests done. This is taken from Dr. 's site at www.allthingsmale.com in TRT: A Recipe for Success. • Total Testosterone • Bioavailable Testosterone (AKA " Free and Loosely Bound " ) • Free Testosterone (if Bioavailable T is unavailable) • DHT • Estradiol (specify the Extraction Method, or " sensitive " assay for males) • LH • FSH • Prolactin • Cortisol (but we strongly recommend saliva tests, not the one time blood test your doctor will do. • Thyroid Panel TSH Free T4 and Free T3 (note the word “free”) * Reverse T3 * Thyroid Antibodies (anti-TPO and TgAb. YOU NEED BOTH.) * Ferritin (and do stress FERRITIN, not just RBC) • CBC • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel • Lipid Profile • PSA (if over 40) Here is a link to the AACE Guildlines read this. http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf ciaran426 <ciaran426@...> wrote: Hey group I was wondering if some of you could offer me some advice, basically I am a 22 year old guy from Ireland and I look very young for my age. I look about 15, I have an underdeveloped frame (shoulders etc) a very babyish face and I can't really grow any facial hair. I have gotten as far as hairy pits etc but seem to have been stunted at this developmental stage and it has been like this for a long time. I went to my doctor about the possibility that I might have low testosterone levels but he gave me blood tests & said I was ok he told me that my levels were 28.5 I'm not sure what unit he was using to measure this so any help here would be appreciated too. I am convinced that he is wrong so I am going to seek a second opinion on this because the main point for me is that I'm sick of living in the body of a 15 year old, I can't go out for a few drinks with my friends, I can't talk to girls, almost every day I get some sort of comment and it really has shredded my confidence. I'm not sure what I hoped to gain from writing this but I think I needed to just vent. Sorry if this post is inappropriate for the forum and for the length. Guest guest
Hey and welcome to the group More information would help if you don't mind sharing. First, have you developed other characteristics of pueberty like increased size of the penis and testicles, pubic hair, lower voice, hair on arms or legs. Also, is your family males hairy? Do you get erections at night and have you had any wet dreams? How tall are you and are your limbs in proportion to your trunk? Without the range of your test, we can't tell if your in the lower, middle or upper part of the band - get a copy of your results and check the range of the test. Lastly, do you work out with weights. Some of us are just built small and the only way to change the physique is to work out with weights. Other hormones influence several things like one of the estrogen molecules (estradiol). As phil mentioned in an earlier post, you need a snapshot of all the hormones to make a correct diagnosis. Guest guest
Hello again I'll try answer as best I can. In regards to other signs of puberty, I have a fair bit of hair on my legs, not much on my arms though. I have pubic hair and what I'd call a below average amount of armpit hair. I have developed a lower voice, increased size in penis and testicles, and pubic hair. I am 6 ft skinny and to myself I think my legs seem too long for my torso. My numbers for my test results were 28.8 which he said was normal but down to my own stupidity I didn't ask which measurement and he didn't write it down. :-/ I wasn't given a print out of my results or anything just a piece of paper with my result in handwriting. He did write " 6.2 - 28.6 " and said this was the normal range. Is there a standard European measurement? I have been working out without weights ie. sit ups push ups etc for about 4 months but maybe I should get a proper set of weights. Thanks for any replies
Guest guest
You can call the lab and have them send/fax you a copy of the test results. I always have the lab fax me a copy of all labwork; doc's are notorious for not telling you all the information contained in the labs. Gettin Older > > > > Hello again I'll try answer as best I can.
