Guest guest
Has anyone on this site been through external radiation plus seeding for treatment of prostate cancer, and then have had to cope with a low testosterone? I understand the negative attitude that most doctors have about improving the quality of life with testosterone therapy, but there are several studies out there that have apparently debuked that testosterone therapy " Ignites " any rogue cancer cells. Any comments or experiences? - Houston,Texas

Guest guest
Hi Phil ! Very good. I would certainly like to hear from some of them. It's not my libido that I am concerned about but rather my lack of " Get up and Go " , " Fire in the Belly " , not being able to gain any muscle mass even though I work out at the gym three evenings a week, cardio and resistance. My libido, of course, could use a " Tweak " ....especially when the attractive cheer leader next door drove up to her parents home in her college cheer-leading costume and in her new red Eclispe, and my reaction was ........... OK, so what ! LOL. To paraphrase a famous NASA remark, " , we have a problem! " Anyway, my standard Testosterone reading in December 2005, was at 239. My cardiologist recently piggy-backed a Testosterone test on my annual heart-health checkup (I had heart attack in Sept.1996) and it was up around 369. He considers that at the lower edge of " Normal for a guy your age (I turned 70 in March) " . Took me off the Nitro patches and suggested I try the Viagra Rx he wrote me. > From: <crudestexas> > Subject: Low Testosterone following radiation and seeding for prostate cancer ! > > Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2008, 10:18 AM > Has anyone on this site been through external radiation plus > seeding > for treatment of prostate cancer, and then have had to cope > with a low > testosterone? Guest guest
we now know your T levels are low but how are your Estradiol " E2 " levels if high this can be why at your age your levels of T are so low read this link. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 Please get this tested if high have your Dr. put you on some Arimidex to being it down. If your over 60 pg/ml then take .5 mgs of 1/2 a one mg. pill every other day. You will know when your levels are good when you get your night time and morning wood back. As for Viagra this makes me so sick from sides that I don't feel like sex after taking it. My Dr. put me on Cialis 20 mgs every 3 days cost is about the same and doing this no sides and no waiting for a pill to work. And do ask about this with your Dr. so you know it will not have a bad effect on your heart. Guest guest
Hi - I am one of the list members who previously had prostate cancer and now am on TRT. In my case, they did a radical prostectomy (removal) rather than seeding. Everything was successful but, as in the case of many others, ED and libido complications followed the surgery. While the E/D was relatively easy to treat (drugs), the libido (or lack thereof) bothered me a lot. I waited 5 years after surgery (and after getting clean PSA tests through), and after a lot of digging, found an ENDO who would treat me. Have been on TRT for 1-1/2 years and found the results to be very satisfactory. If you've been 'clean' for several years, there's no reason you shouldn't pursue a TRT course. Good luck. C.
