Susie, I understand how you feel...I have been dealing with

my GB since I was in my mid 30's...learned about flushing

then. I am now 51, and notice that stones really " piled up "

quite a bit in the 5 year gap between my last flush and the

one I did over a year ago when I started up with them again.

I am finding new ways to be handle my diet and flushing,

but trying not to make it a big focus in my life (though I do

love reading and discussing on this list :-) but just do what

I can when I can. I, too, have a lot going on with my aging

folks in a lot of need and Dad in the hospital with stroke,

but hopefully over the next year will return to my good habits

and be able to keep the GB. But like you, I am not going

to let it take control of my life, if it begins to do that (my hubby

would say it already has :-) I may do as you are. SO FAR,

I have been fortunate in that none of my attacks have been

the excruciating painful kind. I hope it stays that way.

Take care...by the way, did you have the surgery or are you

going to have it? When? Keep us posted.

Hello group,

I wanted to write y'all and tell you what happened. Last Friday at about

1:00 a.m. I had to go to ER. I was hurting in my GB area, my liver and I was

starting to turn yellow. I knew this time was different. So we went to the

little hospital near us, but they still don't have a surgeon there. So they

gave

me some demerol and sent me by ambulance to a larger hospital of our choice in

another city.

When we arrived, I was greeted by several arrogant doctors. They could not

believe that I was doing the cleanses. Basically I feel sorry for these guys.

They have a one-track mind and can't think for themselves. In their mind,

people are not supposed to take charge of their own health. One of them even

said so.

So I had a sonogram. The doctor doing the sonogram brought in another doctor

who was helping him do the sonogram. This doctor was #1 on the ignornant,

narrow-minded list. I almost got in an argument with him about the cleanses,

then I thought to myself, Why even bother talking to people like this? I don't

have to prove anything to him. If he wants to remain ignornant and

narrow-minded, that's his business!!! You can't deal with people who have this

kind of

mindset.

Anyway, I was really a sick puppy. He was the least of my worries. So they

put me in a room. The ultrasound revealed two stones blocking one of my bile

ducts. They put me on a high-powered antibiotic and IV and I was seriously

still turning yellow. My pancreas was ill too!!! Boy, that's the first time

that I have ever had that.

My husband stayed with me while I was there, thankfully!!! Sat. night he

was helping me to the bathroom and I noticed that my yellow was disappearing.

By Sunday morning it had almost disappeared. Oh, yeah, my pee looked like

strong tea. But that changed as soon as the yellow started disappearing. It

appeared that one of my stones had at least either moved or I passed it.

On Monday I was scheduled for an ERCP to take care of those missing stones.

The GI doctor, who also was against cleanses, sweep my bile ducts 5 times

looking for any stone, couldn't find it, then had them hook up an x-ray. At

that

time, he found one stone. The other stone no longer existed. He had no

trouble removing the one stone. It popped right out.

He looked inside my gallbladder, and scratching his head said, " You have no

stones in your GB, I thought that you said you had stones. "

If he would have just listened to me before, which they don't listen anyway,

I had told him that on 4/25 I had a sonogram done and it showed two stones

blocking the mouth of my GB. Then he would have remembered that I said that I

passed them when I did a cleanse in early May.

But it's at this time that I personally decided to give up and have my GB

out, and the reason was is that the wall of my GB was thickening. I decided not

to chance it anymore. I had to make the decision one way or the other. I

decided for surgery. One of the reasons is my age. I'm 50 now. If I was in my

20s or 30s, I would have tried again. But I've been ill for several months

now, so I decided that this was best.

I'll still be on the group. When I get my strenght back I'll probably

cleanse.

Take care,

Susie

A week ago Monday or this Monday? Sorry to be

confused :-) How did the surgery go, and how did

you feel after? You can help us still with that kind of

info as some will end up having theirs removed, and

it's always good to hear from someone who has gone

through it first-hand :-)

I'm just wondering , if you only had two stones and they were removed one way

or the other, why your gallbladder would continue to thicken. I was told a

year ago that one wall of mine was slightly thickened but still within the

limits of normal, but then I have a large stone

Colleen,

It was my personal decision to go ahead and get my GB out. I took into

account my age and my past history of gallstones. Back in Dec. 2000, I had some

small stones in my GB and had a severe attack. I went to ER and they did an

ultrasound. The wall of my GB was not thickened at that time. Since my

ultrasound on 4/25, it showed some thickening. Then they said after my GB was

removed

that the wall was thickened. I figured that improvement wasn't going to come.

Also, my age, 50, I have many things that I need to do in my scriptural

studies. Doing this gallstone stuff takes a lot of time that I no longer have.

So

I'm going to concentrate my energy into other things. Of course, I have to

eat healthy. Moderation is the key!!!

Dale,

Thanks for your kind words. I debated on keeping my GB since I had no

stones, but the thickening was what bothered me. I know it's not really a good

sign

in the GB. About stones in our livers, I wish that I could make doctors

understand that all of us have them. We told the doctors about them, but they

act

like it rarely happens. How can they not know this?

Thanks again,

Susie

But anyway, I

wish you recovery and even though I have no gb too, I

still believe in flushes.

You take care,

Thanks, . I still plan on doing cleanses when I gain my strength back.

Also, I'm going to check into the Beta-Plus. I know that it helps people

with no GBs. Just because I have my GB out doesn't mean that I can stop eating

healthy. That's why I have a problem in the first place. If i had eaten healthy

all my life, I wouldn't have had this problem.

However, when I'm better, I'm going to have some kind of chocolate something.

I haven't had anything chocolate since 1999. I just want to try it again.

Take care...by the way, did you have the surgery or are you

going to have it? When? Keep us posted.

Thanks, . There's really some very supportative people on this list,

those who have GBs and those who don't.

I already had the surgery. On Monday I had the ERCP. When I arrived at the

hospital, they did an ultrasound and found two stones. On of which was

blocking my duct. I will tell you that one of the doctors doing the ultrasound

was

so hateful. He was one of the most hateful people I've ever been around. I'm

glad that he wasn't in the room long. I was too sick to be around him very

long. He was arguing about the cleanses and saying it was nonsense. One

doctor even said it was witchcraft. Can you imagine calling the stuff we do the

cleanses with, the olive oil and grapefruit juice, witchcraft?

Anyway, my pancreas was sick too and my liver from the bile backup. But just

as quickly as I turned yellow, it stopped. Sat. afternoon I stopped turning

yellow and it started disappearing. By Sunday morning I was much better and

fever was almost gone. Apparently I passed one of those stones, and the

antibiotics were strong.

Then I also knew that the walls of my GB were getting thick. I had a bad

feeling about keeping it then. I elected to remove it at that time. It was a

painful decision. I guess what helped me make up my mind was I just recently

knew of a man who had his GB removed and had cancer in his GB. That's when I

thought about the thickened walls.

Anyway, I appreciate all of y'all and thankful that I have had this group of

people. I just can't get over the ignorance in today's world of medicine. I

sure hope it changes.

,

On Monday I had the ERCP. I was supposed to have it early in the morning,

but they put me off and I had it about 4:00 in the afternoon. Boy, was I weak

from no fluids since before midnight Sunday.

On Tuesday about 12:30, I had my GB removed. I still couldn't have any

fluids nor food, plus no ice to eat. I was terribly weak. The doctor didn't

know

if I could have the lap done or not until he went in there. I had had

previous surgeries years before, and even though the surgeries were lower down,

he

said that sometimes you still build up scar tissue even in the upper abdomen.

But it all worked out.

I feel okay, just sore as heck. It feels as though someone has stabbed my

liver. I'm supposed to eat low fat until he says otherwise because they don't

want my liver producing much bile right now. They want it kind of resting. I

don't have my whole appetite back anyway from being ill with the pancreas

stuff.

Oh, I forgot to tell y'all this. They couldn't get over how large my bile

ducts were. Remember how the cleanse stretches them? That was freaking them

out. Of course, they think the cleanse is hooey anyway. No matter how many

times I told them about cleansing and it stretching the bile ducts, that just

didn't sink in.

Another thing that I forgot to tell y'all. If your pancreas gets inflamed

like mine did, your urine will look like strong tea. It's very, very dark.

Susie;

I'm so glad you are doing better. You have been a valiant fighter for keeping

your organs with which you've started on this earth. However, as is the case

with these organs they eventually will breakdown. Your attempt to keep your

gallbladder certainly hasn't gone unnoticed by many of us here.

You, however, are in a better position of knowledge than many thousands of those

who have had to have their gallbladders removed. You know that the liver is and

will always be the most important organ regarding the formation of stones, and

will be better enabled to handle not having a gallbladder.

I'm truly sorry for your loss

Suzanne,

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, it was a difficult choice for me to make,

especially since I've worked so hard to save my GB through the years. Although

somehow I knew at one time or another, I may have to make a choice like this.

I considered my past history and the fact that I may be a " stone-maker "

anyway, and I considered the thickening of the walls of my GB, which is not too

good. Now I have to work on getting well. I'm still pretty weak right now. I

can't sit for too long. It'll just take time, I'm sure.

Dear Susie,

Sounds like you've had a real rough time of it. If you were getting

so sick (turning yellow is NOT a good thing), then you have had your

GB removed with good reason.

Choices are not always easy, but there always comes a time that

we've got a hard one to make. ...And only you can make the most

knowledgable choice of your own situation.

I wish you a quick recovery and good health.

Hi Susie,

It sounds like you're going to be a lot better soon, and I'm so glad

for you. You'll be a lot better off than a lot of people with your

knowledge of eating right and flushing the liver. Thanks so much

for your past contributions to this list which helped me learn so

much. I look forward to future contributions also :)

Get well soon!

Vince,

I will let y'all know with how things go if anything interesting happens Of

course, what happens to me may not happen to anyone else. So far everything

is okay. But then it's only been a few days. Right now I'm supposed to eat

low fat to let my liver rest from the surgery so it won't produce bile. My

liver feels like either someone beat the heck out of it or stabbed me in the

liver, although it's some better today.
