Guest guest
My story... I was dx 10/23/2009 w/stage 4 breast cancer (inflammatory). No surgery because it spread to my bones. 2 prior Pet Scans had me glowing boldly red on my affected breast, my spine, pelvis and thigh bones. I have also had 2 bone scans since this dx and no damage is shown. My breast definitely had active cancer and it was visible. My nipple basically disappeared and I have scar tissue where it use to be. I just dried up several skin mets with iodine tincture dabs over a 2 week period. I am in awe of my pink skin where black peas size nodules use to be. I do have some indentions left that are healing that may leave pox type marks, but pink indentions are better than black cancerous nodules. I was treated with Taxol for 5 months and was off chemo for 7 months and then treated 4 months with Doxil (got to keep my hair with that one). I take Tamoxifen when on chemo breaks and I am on it now. I started Weight Watchers to promote self controlled quality eating patterns and focus on whole foods...I need the help of such a program... lol... My 3rd PET scan results relayed to me 4/1/11 show'no evidence of disease', 'negative scan'. I am beside myself happy yet at the same time, I am aware that such awesome results immediately after finishing a series of chemo may change. I had additional blood tests for my ONC that I will get results for in May. I never did have very high tumor markers... Always 42 and under. I didn't do anything non-traditional during my traditional medical therapy other than eat better, drink green tea and avoid junk foods. I don't smoke and I am not much of a drinker, but will have a drink/beer with friends now and then. I have no other medical issues outside of the cancer. I am in the process of pursuing Alternative Cancer Therapy. I started LDN, 5mg 3/29/11 and had probably 2 dozen viles of blood taken and a cup of urine to test for bromine I think. I get those results and my protocol April 12th. I wanted an Alternative therapy professional to guide me as to which supplements I need to be taking, including Iodine etc.... I was told that 5mg of LDN by another list member was higher than recommended so I sent an email to the LDN website contact to ask them directly for clarification. It disturbs me that I might have been prescribed the wrong dosage by my chosen Alternative Provider. Now I have some trust issues that I need to clarify for myself. I am about 50 pounds too heavy, but was told that should affect my LDN dosage. Any Comments? My Alternative Provider also has mentioned the below supplement to me. She said that she can sell it to me at her cost of $80 a month... which she said is her wholesale purchase price... but only if I want it. She asked me to research it myself and decide if it was something I wanted to start taking given the cost of it along with the LDN. All visits and meds with her are self pay. I am paying $38 a month for the LDN that I buy locally from a pharmacy who makes it for me. I am sure the other supplements she recommends are going to be roughly $100 a month too based on my research of recommended supplements I gave her to review for me. Has anyone heard of this particular supplement? SALVESTROL? Is anyone taking it? Any comments/opinions are welcomed so I can make an educated decision. http://www.salvestrol.ca/aboutsalvestrols.asp Thank you... Guest guest
Although it looks interesting it also looks fab like and overpriced to me if she wants 80 bucks a month for it I think that is too much. I would rather take the 80 bucks and buy oraganic fruits and greens and eat those, in general eat more healthily. But that is me. LDN - typical adult dose is 4.5 mg regardless of weight. But there has been a range suggested from 3 mg to as high as 6 mg I think by some folks. But everything I have read supports the 4.5 mg dose. I know some folks have experimented with higher doses, some with twice a day dosing, some with lower doses even. I have not seen enough information about any of those experiments to make me go out on a limb and shift from my very successful 4.5 mg a night dosing. I would check with Skip's pharmacy. I think you could get LDN from him for less than you are currently paying, people often do 3 months at once and get some sort of savings that way as well. What wasn't clear to me in reading your story was whether or not you are taking iodine (this group) internally? I believe there has been some excellent results for folks with breast cancer with both internal and external application combined. Guest guest
Kudos to you for doing the right thing for yourself!I can help with the amount of LDN. I take 4.5, which is suppose to be the max dose. I imagine 5 is going to hurt you none. Some take higher, some take lower. You won;t die from it that's for sure.Hang in there Joy and hopefully you'll get answers to your other questions. from IllinoisFrom: rainbowjoye <RainbowJoye@...>iodine Sent: Mon, April 4, 2011 10:07:53 AMSubject: My story and your advice welcomed My story... Guest guest
Joy, I have just read an interview by a researcher that runs Life Extension- they do purely research on cutting edge wellness medicine. It was really, really good. He said that they have a free service of advice to anyone who is going through any medical treatments- what is shown to work or not, the best statistical evidence for what works, and they are not just drug but alternative medicine... http://www.lef.org/ For that matter, I was recommended a book I would never have picked up, but it is a compilation of interviews with some of the top, cutting edge doctors who believe that wellness treatment is critical. It is "Breakthrough:...." by Suzanne Sommers. I have been amazed at some of the interviews and it also tells you some great doctors that could just be near you!!! Guest guest
Joy, Congratulations on your test results. God is good, isn't He? When do you start iodine, when your bromine test comes back? You should take higher doses of iodine with a cancer dx. Minimum 50mg but probably more. Be sure to do the protocol, particularly the salting. > > > > > > My story... > > I was dx 10/23/2009 w/stage 4 breast cancer (inflammatory). Guest guest
Hi Joy! I just wanted to say hello. I graduated from FSU. I'm at the opposite side of the breast cancer scale at stage 0. But I'm also very interested in LDN. I look forward to sharing in what you learn and how your treatment goes. I'm so glad you are double checking the supplements your practitioner recommends. I think that's very important. ar
Guest guest
I'm sorry that I don't know anything about this product. I get discouraged, because SOMETIMES these product names obfuscate the fact that they are selling a comparatively common product. Every manufacturer tries to convince you that his product is different & special & works better than every other, but that is often about marketing. On the other hand, sometimes the hype is true (or truish), & it is hard for us, as consumers, to know one from the other.I have read, however, that strontium supplementation is helpful when their are bone mets after breast cancer, & I thought I would bring that to your attention so you can research it further. Please note that allopaths sometimes use RADIOACTIVE strontium, but I am talking about the plain, safe, mineral supplement. (When you Google, you will find both protocols intermingled. I am not recommending the radioactive one.)AnneOn Apr 4, 2011, at 8:07 AM, rainbowjoye wrote: <--static--intheclouds_lt.gif>My story...I was dx 10/23/2009 w/stage 4 breast cancer (inflammatory).
