Re: HCG treatment to restore fertility

Hello,

HCG is helpful in restoring fertility & increasing testosterone, but

on its own, it tends to be insufficient at increasing testosterone to

a satisfactory level. There seems to be a limit as to what amount of

HCG the testes will respond to. Men can overstimulate their testes

using too much HCG (as might happen if 250 iu every other day doesn't

elevate testosterone enough & one is tempted to use *much* higher

doses-like 4000+ iu at once), which can result in unresponsiveness to

HCG & /or excess estrogen/estradiol. HCG alone might raise the dilemma

of quality of life vs. fertility ( & perhaps result in neither).

Theoretically, combined treatment with HCG & T should give the best of

both worlds. But I can't speak from experience.

Happy New Year to both you & your husband!

It depends on if one is primary or secondary. However, I think there is

a good case to doing both T injections and HCG injections. LH hormone

receptors may or may not be body wide and supplementing testosterone

shuts down LH production removing the LH stimulating effect on those

cells that have those kinds of receptors. Adding HCG results in a LH

like effect giving those receptor, wherever they might be,

stimulation/activation. I'm not sure what the effect of suppressing LH

actually is on other body organs/tissues.
