The committee aims to develop a dialogue and ensure meaningful involvement of people living with AIDS by involving the representatives of networks working among them. This will also help to resolve problems faced by the HIV infected and affected community and helps the Govt to understand their viewpoints and take necessary steps to address their issues. Dr. Usha Titus, Project Director, Kerala State AIDS Control Society (KSACS) is the Chairperson of the Coordination Committee. Ms Anjana, GIPA Coordinator in the Convener. The committee comprises of the representatives of various state level networks working among the PLHA community, Additional Project Director, Joint Director (Care and Support), Joint Director (TI), Joint Director (IEC) and Consultant Mainstreaming, from Kerala SACS as its members. The first meeting of the committee was conducted on March 6th at Thiruvananthapuram. The committee will meet every three months. It is for the first time in India that a Government backed platform at the state level is launched for co-ordinating the efforts of various communities working among the HIV infected. With the onset of this forum, a platform to discuss and resolve the problems of HIV infected persons have come into existence; comments ph Mathew, President CPK plus, a network for the HIV infected. The involvement and participation of HIV infected people in the HIV prevention programme implemented by KSACS is ensured by such a move, he continued.
