Guest guest
It should be pointed out that what is going on in the U.S. has has gone on in past administrations. Do not for a moment think any president makes all of these choices. There is nothing new going on that hasn't gone on since I can remember, that Big Business has the 'ear' of whomever they are buying and as Monsanto goes, they buy everyone. We are fighting a war we may never win. We may win skirmishes, wars? Not yet! It has reached the point we will grasp at any win but when the dust settles, when it comes to Big Chemical Companies, Big Pharma and Big Oil....................whom do you think wins? So far? They have. The worst part? This issue only resonates with people like us, not the masses, the major voting block of the nation.............it isn't the vegetarians, not the health-food faddists, not Alternatives.........the masses that they rely upon, the people that do not have the slightest idea as to what is going on, they are the ones politicians play to. Even if one party tried to thwart a behemoth like Monsanto..........the other party would resist and call it 'government take-over'. Take a dangerous drug. For example VIOXX. People have to die in droves before the FDA takes action and it doesn't matter which party is in power. When a little effort to have an 'Organic' garden was made at The White House, conventional growers raised the roof and screamed all over the place. I suspect the garden still exists but I haven't heard much about it and don't expect Obama to raise the subject further. Corporate America is the America we live in and it isn't just now we see this happening. It is why we have a weak health-care system controlled by powerful money-grabbing insurers. Industry Lobbyists seem to be the way both parties stack Industry Regulators. The Fox and The Hen House all over again. It happens with the FDA, Agricultural Department, and the Department of Energy...........and don't forget finance. We can hope..........but unless we can light a fire under the people, nothing much will change. Sorry to say, not even the current screaming going on at so called 'Parties', do you see anything that will really benefit what we believe in. Keep trying, otherwise it will never change. I really do have hope because I have loved ones that need someone to fight for them. We can only change one mind at a time and I am fanatical about making a strong effort to change things but only know a very few people that would bother to phone or write their representative. We can't do it alone but neither can we put the blame on any one government official. It is a poison that has been spread by money and it is stronger than we are............so far. Joe C. Guest guest
Is there any chance that someone like Islam Siddiqui might be best to fight Monsanto and protect American citizens since he might know and understand Monsanto from the inside? I mean, once you change bosses, you change allegiance unless you're a robot or still on the payroll and isn't that a huge risk? While I understand it might be polyanna-ish of me to believe people can be single-minded or independent, it might also be polyanna-ish to think people have no minds at all or lack moral decency. I'm thinking aloud. I'm just hoping that someone like Obama whose wife is growing an organic garden at the capitol, might actually check out who he is putting in high position. And, maybe, he isn't so 'bought' or 'corrupt' as we might think. Deborah > > It should be pointed out that what is going on in the U.S. has has gone on in past administrations.
