A disturbing incident at Pune JJ ART center

Dear forum,

This is another disturbing incident at JJ ART center.

 

A patient who was put on second line treatment at the ART center at JJ hospital

in Pune visited us with a request to give 2nd line ART at concessional rate or

if he still could not afford that, then to provide the failing regimen with

concession.

In spite of a long conversation telling him that in fact he was lucky to get 2nd

line ART free at Govt ART centre, he said that he would prefer to die but not

step in there as the doctors there humiliated him that much.

We tried to tell him the need for treatment, even that he could avail treatment

from there and see someone else for care, still he was not convinced.

An attempt to talk to the doctor at the centre failed as the response was very

evasive.

We don't understand how we can change this attitude that we are 'obliging'

people by providing services and the people are thus 'pampered'.

We are aware of the tremendous work being done at the JJ ART center and thus

feel disturbed when such things happen.
