FAMILY HEALTH INTERNATIONAL:

Family Health International (FHI) is dedicated to improving lives,

knowledge, and understanding worldwide through a highly diversified

program of research, education, and services in family health and

HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

BACKGROUND:

Family Health International (FHI) is implementing the Aastha ( " To care about " )

project in Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra as part of the India AIDS

Initiative (Avahan) of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project aims

to reduce the incidence of HIV and STIs among sex workers and their partners

through strategic behavior communication (SBC), condom provision and STI

services.

FHI with its 17 Implementing partners (IPs) has reached out to 69,000

female, male and transgender sex workers through SBC and provision of

condoms till date. The project has provided clinical services through 17 static

clinics, 44 satellite clinics and 300 monthly health camps to 60,000 sex workers

each of whom have visited the clinic at least once.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To build the capacity of MDACS in implementing the Sex Worker and High risk Men

Targeted Interventions (TIs) by providing training, developing and mentoring

NGOs for implementing TIs funded by Mumbai District AIDS Control Society

(MDACS).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Provide Technical Assistance to MDACS TI program component

* Support TI section of MDACS to monitor the progress against the

agreed work plan through review of reports and regular meetings with

NGOs funded by MDACS;

* Support MDACS to prepare detailed implementation plans for

their Supported NGOs;

* Develop, monthly reports, quarterly progress reports and

contribute to other reports as requested in a timely manner.

* Provide Technical assistance in implementing appropriate

monitoring tools and systems for effective project monitoring;

* Identify needs for capacity building in consultation with NGOs

funded by MDACS;

* Provide support to Transitioned NGOs to maintain the high

standards of achievements.

* Work closely with other members of the FHI Aastha

Team to provide technical assistance to MDACS in program management, M & E and

other technical areas.

* Prepare reports to be sent to NACO as required.

* Liaise with MSACS and NACO as required.

* Prepare technical documents and background papers as

identified.

* Provide support to Project Director MDACS in the Gates-funded

project in Maharashtra.

* Participate in planning for the FHI Maharashtra Office and

contribute to the development of the Annual Work plan and Budget;

* Perform other duties as requested by Project Director MDACS,

Program Manager, Director -Maharashtra and Country Director.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

* Post Graduate Degree in Social Science or Public Health/

Medicine

* Minimum 5 years experience of NGO project design, monitoring,

management and evaluation.

* Strong analytical, problem solving and writing skills

essential.

COMPENSATION:

* This is not an expatriate position. No expatriate benefits or

allowances provided.

* Compensation levels at FHI are equivalent to market rates within

the development sector. However, offers shall be based on salary

history, relevant experience and qualifications.
