Guest guest
I wonder whether anyone can advise me. I currently inject 500IU of HCG three times a week. However, I can only get hold of ampoules of HCG which hold 5000IU. In other words, I only need a tenth of an ampoule per shot. My pharmacist, and the company which makes Pregnyl, have said that I should use 500IU and throw the rest (i.e. 4500IU) away rather than store it. I think this is a terrible waste. My plan was to mix the powder and the liquid from the 5000IU ampoule, draw up three syringes of the stuff, and store them in the fridge for a week at a time. The pharmacist, and the company, said that I shouldn't do this. Does anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't store reconstituted HCG, in syringes, in the fridge for a week? My consultant seems to think such a plan is fine, but everyone else I've spoken to, including my nurses, the pharmacist and the company which makes the HCG, says it's a no-no. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think pretty much EVERYONE on the group stores their HCG in the fridge after reconstituting it with bacterstatic water. The HCG product I purchase comes as 5000 IU and 10 ml of bacterstatic water is included along with a 10 ml vial with HCG powder. I use a syringe to draw up the water from one and add it to the HCG. The instructions for the different brands I've used indicates that it's good refrigerated for either 30 or 60 days. I do 250 IU twice a week so that adds up to 2500 IU over a 30 day perios(I reconstitute the day of my first weekly shot and on the 5th week I'm at the end of 30 days). I never used all the HCG before discarding it BUT it lasts either a month or two months depending on the brand. I'm not sure who you're talking too but someone is missing the boat. Here's one brand and their instructions. Note that the instructions indicated cold storage between injections and that it's good for 30 days that way. If you are using 500 IU three times per week, then you will be using ALL of 5000 IU before it expires 30 days after mixing. http://www.ferringusa.com/fertility_products/insert_novarel.htm -- Steve - dudescholar4@... Guest guest
The water that comes with most HCG is good for one time use. If you get some BAC water, it will be good 30-60 days. There are many place to get this. Here is one: http://www.researchsupply.net/sterile_diluents.html ________________________________ From: colinpaulturner <colinpaulturner@...> Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2008 6:28:36 PM Subject: Storage of reconstituted HCG - urgent problem to solve!!! Guest guest
Everything I've gotten from US pharmacies using a US prescription has included BAC water, the instructions on which indicated potency for 30 or 60 days depending on brand. On the other hand, the water that came with international orders have been one time use. Steve Thornton wrote: > The water that comes with most HCG is good for one time use.
