Guest guest
Hi, I was diagnosed with Her-2/Neu+ breast cancer in October 2009 and am doing only alternative treatment. My son is wondering about my 'progress'. Has anyone used cancer screening blood tests such as the CA Profile from American Metabolic Testing? Or what do you do to know whether what you are doing is 'working'? I had a PETscan in late November 2009 that showed cancer activity in the left breast and associated lymph nodes. Last week I was offered another PETscan but would prefer to avoid the radiation. Any thoughts on having a follow-up PETscan? From my perspective this journey is more about my overall health than the physical symptoms - which seem to change mostly with my state of mind. Since I was diagnosed I've gotten my digestive system back in order, have made profound spiritual growth through Reiki sessions and meditation, and have lots more strength and energy. I had a root canal in early August 2009 and the breast (which has had issues for 25 years since I had mastitis in it while nursing my son) flared up right after that. I appreciate any suggestions about how to 'monitor' one's health in order to offer some kind of verifiable evidence to my son. He is a mathematician and thinks there should be a 'proof'!!! I keep telling him that any test would just be a snapshot of that moment in time. And who knows but that the cancer cells are more sensitive than other cells and get riled up in response to the radiation - when maybe they aren't otherwise actively doing anything harmful. BTW I do not see cancer as an 'enemy', and do not 'fight it'. For me it is a gift to help me have the courage to get through some lifelong obstacles that my fear had blocked me from. Not sure that it makes any sense but I'm trying to blend with the cancer's energy and see if it can be directed toward the greater good of my body. I.e. the idea that cancer cells mutated to adapt to some challenge, they don't mature, they don't die on schedule - all useful qualities I'm asking them to share with my other cells. Thanks so much, Joyce
