Guest guest
Dear Friends, In Rajasthan NGO's and GO's are organising hundreds of programs for HIV prevention and care. While doing programs we find many children infected with HIV. But, what are we doing for them. They are not getting an education properly. No shelter homes are there in state that offer holistic care and support services. Faith Foundation started a care home " Aalingan " in Jaipur in May, 2005. Faith foundation was founded on the 9th of May 2005. It was established in the significance of the dream that Smriti Singh had in her life. It was her aim to work with children suffering on several diseases and thereby help society by giving the children the normal life they deserve and an opportunity to live it to the fullest. The logo of Faith represents a deeper meaning. First of all we see the resemblance to the ‘red ribbon’ for HIV. Furthermore the form also looks like a fish and that is because fish is a symbol for faith. The logo is consisting two intersecting arcs where the endings of the right side extend beyond the meeting point. With Faith we want to do everything in our power to help the children living with HIV and give them access to a full holistic life. Faith is based in Jaipur and its sole motto is to bring a ray of hope amongst the lives of the children living with HIV by providing care & support. Our NGO works with children living with HIV. The focus of Faith primarily rests on care & support and counselling, as well providing basic healthcare facilities and generating awareness about hygiene, HIV. Our endeavour is to integrate the children into the mainstream of life, education and furthermore we encourage cultural & recreational activities. Faith is dedicated to inspiring others to make a difference in the lives of these children and others. Through these achievements we give society support in decreasing and preventing stigma and discrimination. “Aalingan†began with two children and one care-taker on the 21st of September 2007. In a few weeks it transcended into having ten children been taken care of with two fulltime care-takers. Supported by committed volunteers that include a doctor, a nurse and tutors, these children are thriving in a way that no one could have imagined when the first child walked through the door. Society spends a lot of money on prevention but there is not enough being done to integrate and empower the PLHIV’s and CLHIV’s into the mainstream of life. Through the presence of this epidemic numerous children are single or double orphans. These children living with HIV did not ask for this to happen, however many institutions do not really cater to take care of children with HIV. We at Faith do not take this path. Every child living with the virus is admitted into “Aalingan†care home. Our children are between the ages of three and thirteen years and they are all attending regular schools and stand out in their studies. Should you require additional information or know of any CLHIV from any part of the country that requires care and support please contact Ms. Smriti Singh (09829216875) or Mr. Mike Marshall (09799299623). Guest guest
Dear Forum Greetings from Bal Sansar! Thanks to Mr. Mike Marshall for this sharing of excellent and dedicated work for CLHIV in Jaipur. We, Bal Sansar team take this opportunity to share with the forum members that Bal Sansar is a registered non-profit voluntary organization established in 1992 in Rajasthan (India) working in the field of community development. This includes public health, HIV-AIDS prevention and care, women and children’s education and development. Our Mission is to empower vulnerable community groups enabling them to lead a life with dignity. One of the our initiatives “Sneh Sansar†(Hindi word that literally translates to ‘loving World’) is “A Home Away from Home for the children orphaned due to AIDSâ€, commenced in June 2008 in Ajmer district of Rajasthan, India, with 5 children. Presently, in our limited resources, we offer a space with basic amenities to house 7 children. This was achieved thanks to individual donors and clubs who helped us mobilize resources locally and initiate this project. We are into the process of developing infrastructure to accommodate more children in need. Sneh Sansar being a community initiative and having any secured funding source, we seek support for scaling up our initiative and to meet our recurring costs to provide education, vocational skills, food, clothes, safe shelters as well as medical care for those children. In a perfect world, all children would receive love, care, and respect from their families. Unfortunately, for many children, home is where the damage lies. Sneh Sansar aims to reach out to the children abused, abandoned, HIV infected - orphaned due to AIDS with a helping hand. We provide them with a temporary shelter, skills to cope with the life, rehabilitation and long-term permanent placement for boys and girls between the age of 5 and 18. We attempt to build and strengthen social, ethical, and spiritual values. We want all children who live in Sneh Sansar to know that they are important, loved and supported to lead a meaningful life. In a rural community setting, these children are able to regain confidence and appreciation for life by partaking in “Sneh Sansar†and our counseling and support programs. We also try to alleviate the life of these children, facing deep routed stigma and discrimination.
