Dear Members,  

Greetings from KPWN+. We are glad to inform you that we are organising a fundraising event on May 30th, of which the details are given below.

 

“Pratheeshayde Sangeetham”

 Kerala Positive Women Network (KPWN+) is a non- profit, non- governmental organization of women living with HIV/AIDS in Kerala. The aim of this organization is to empower women living with HIV to live with dignity, free from stigma and discrimination. Factors such gender discrimination, low level of knowledge and social stigma make women and children more vulnerable towards HIV/AIDS. Kerala Positive Women Network is the first of its kind in Kerala to respond to the specific issues related to HIV and AIDS among women and children. KPWN+ has been addressing these issues through peer group meetings, income generation activities, life skill education, awareness and sensitization programs as well as through medical and nutritional support.

In order to carry on with our support programs and activities we are seeking to raise funds through a musical evening “Pratheeshayde Sangeetham” ,scheduled for the 30th of May, Saturday, from 6pm to 8 pm at the AJ Hall, Kaloor. The evening will include performances by the contestants of Idea Star Singers . We are expecting a minimum of 1000 people to attend the show.

 We would also like to make use of this platform to spread awareness with regard to the vulnerability of women and children to HIV and AIDS and the social discrimination they face as a committee. Member of KPWN+ will be sharing her personal experiences and also addressing matters related to prevention. As part of our efforts, there will also be a signature campaign to be inaugurated by the chief guest of the day.

 Some Key events for the day would include

Musical impressions: There will be musical performances by the contestants of the Idea Star Singers. Testimonials by KPWN+ members: There will be a testimonial by a women living with HIV who will share her personal experiences with regard to hardships they faced and talk on prevention methods.

Launching of a Signature campaign for prevention of HIV/AIDS: The evening will be highlighted by the launching of a signature campaign against AIDS by the chief guest of the day. The public will be invited to sign in their names in support our fight against AIDS and HIV.

 Objective of the event:

·        To mobilise funds for the further strengthening of the KPWN+ network.

·        To create a platform to reach out to the public on HIV and AIDS awareness

·        To create an opportunity for KPWN+ to network with other organizations and individuals of similar interests and objectives

·        To build contacts and experience for the purpose of organizing events in the future on a larger scale and seeking support in our projects.

Expected outcome of the event:

·        Raise funds through ticket sales, donations, sponsors and advertisements

·        Increased community awareness on the issues of women living with HIV in Kerala

 

·        Build contacts and network with organizations and individuals of similar interests for future projects and programs

 

·        Improve skills and capacities of members and staff in terms of organizing, communication, networking, documentation and co ordination

 

·        Increased support for the efforts of Positive Women in Kerala
