Dear friends, The high rates of HIV infection in women have brought into sharp focus the problem of violence against women. Violence against women continues to be widespread and often socially sanctioned or tolerated. Gender-based violence is one of the leading factors for spread of HIV infection and needs to be addressed with a new level of urgency—including much greater resources for effective and evidence-based programmes.  RESOURCES 1.
