Guest guest
" Hormonal levels determined through blood tests may detect low testosterone levels and high levels of gonadotropins (pituitary hormones FSH and LH). " Cited from website: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000395.htm ======================================================= Hello Brad and others. ======================================================= There are a couple of ways to conclude. I don't conclude what you do and the mentioned above. Key word being pituitary and not testicular. Normal levels of FSH and LH conclude normal functioning testicules. Are we together on that? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ --------------------- " What Causes Male Hypogonadism? Male Hypogonadism is caused by either an abnormality of the testicles or a defect in the brain or pituitary gland " . Cited from website: http://www.mamashealth.com/men/hypogonadism.asp Here is my proof. Two causes of hypogoandism that includes Testes failure or a pituitary gland problem. ======================================== Pituitary gland problem = high levels of LH and FSH. (Testes can produce LH and FSH but something caused it to malfunction). ========================================== Testiclar Failure = low levels of LH and FSH. (The testes cannot produce due to failure. Pituitary is fine and sending the signal, but due to failure the testes cannot recieve the signal). If the signal cannot be received to produce LH and FSH along with T, all blood tests will be low. After TRT is given, LH and FSH will still be abnormal.... Cause? Ill reverseable damage to the testes. ========================================== " Excessive FSH and LH are found in hypogonadism, anorchia, gonadal failure,3 complete testicular feminization syndrome, menopause, Klinefelter syndrome, alcoholism, castration. FSH and LH are pituitary products, useful to distinguish primary gonadal failure from secondary (hypothalamic/pituitary) causes of gonadal failure, menstrual disturbances and amenorrhea. Useful in defining menstrual cycle phases in infertility evaluation of women and testicular dysfunction in men. FSH is commonly used with LH, which also is a gonadotropin. Both are low in pituitary or hypothalamic failure. FSH and LH levels are high following menopause " . Cited from website: http://www.labcorp.com/datasets/labcorp/html/chapter/mono/ri004500.htm ================================================== The above also mentions a pituitary problem and not a testicular one. If there isn't a pituitary problem, but the testes have failed, how can the testes read high levels of gonadotropins? ===================================================== What is Testicular Failure? It is the inability of testicles to produce sperm or male hormones. It is an uncommon condition. Men who had an undescended testicle at birth are at higher risk of developing testicular failure. Symptoms of Testicular Failure? The most common symptoms are: infertility lack of sex drive delay of puberty development of prominent breast tissue What Causes Testicular Failure? The most common causes are: Chromosome abnormalities present before birth Problems involving sexual maturation Damage to normally developed testicles due to disease, drugs or injury Testicular torsion How serious is Testicular Failure? It isn't life threatening. However, it can produce infertility, lack of sex drive or delayed sexual maturation. Can Testicular Failure be Treated? Male hormones can help restore normal sex drive or continue normal sexual development. However, many forms of testicular failure are irreversible, and fertility and/or libido may not be restored. Guest guest
normal level of lh and fsh still show you could have hypogonadism secodnary but primary both will be high ,secionadrry low or normal. but also of course its how symptoms are and not just blood work i have seen on here alone guys with normal total t and i mean really normal in top two thirds and then there free t has been way too low. i still beleive its too hard not only in uk but usa to get everyone taking the issue seriously men should be demanding and getting in both usa and uk full hormonal check ups not just the low t/fsh/lh but all incluidng the female hormonse. some guys get these in one place as standard then another place only offer the basics, and some dont offer even the basics ,each time a guy thinks something is wrong with there sex hormones a full chekc of all should be done. those full tests as standard seem only to be done by a few in USA and even less in UK. with knowledge now of menopause much more than it was 30 yrs ago,andropause/hypogonadism should be dealt with in same way women get as standard not only the female hormones checked but also testosterone,so why is it i said to a nurse and doc i want my estradoil checked ,the nurse laghed and said " thats a female hormone nothing to do with men " i means what rubbish even my limited knowledge knowws we all have both male and female hormones in differant quantities and if any are out of balance too much or too little then male or female we will have problems. menopause checks and treatment have thankfully for alls sakes got a lot better anyting from HRT to counseliing/hollistic and natural help, top phycosexual help is now out there and availbe in uk and usa,in uk a woman would not stand for the treatment us guys get,but we males get seciond class treatemnt in uk especially. virtually all that is offered to females and there hormone issues can be offered to males, just of course a differant way of thinking and balancing of hormonse for males. so maybe in future this will happen,i am sure NHS do have some knowldegable but even if they do they are held back by NHS national guidelines so an endo may know something and want to do something but if NHS says no not worth it too expensive etc then it cant be done rehgards paul --- ELLIOT BAKER <elliotbkr@...> wrote: > " Hormonal levels determined through blood tests may > detect low testosterone levels and high levels of > gonadotropins (pituitary hormones FSH and LH).
