Type II diabetes and use of LDN

Hi,

Need some advice from you all please.

I am a LDN user for autoimmune disease and I have seen good results.

My father is 84 years old with no major ailments except type II

diabetes which is well controlled with diet and medication.

He asks if he can try taking LDN as preventive measure. I am a

little bit afraid to let him try it because 5 months ago, i did

suffer from a serious candida overgrowth which made LDN ineffective

for a while until I started anti-fungal medication and diet.

I am afraid by taking LDN, it may encourage the candida yeast in him

and bringing him unnecessary troubles. My father is very health

conscious and I don't ever recall him taking antibiotics or having

fungus issues. The only two operations he's had was for enlarged

prostate and cataract which he recovered well.

Should I let my father try LDN? I really want him to get the benefit

of a stronger immune system so he can be healthy and disease free.

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance, Chris

Hi

I have not heard anything about LDN and diabetes and am very curious

to know if there is any benefit for diabetes sufferers. It's hard to

advise any rocking the boat with an 84 year old who is doing well!

Your best bet for good advice would be to ask a doctor who prescribes

LDN regularly. Dr. McCandless (who is doing the Mali trial and spoke

at the LDN conference) says that she encourages many elderly people

to get on LDN for the immune system benefits. She frequently posts

on the autism-LDN group and she generally encourages elderly

people to consider LDN, but I have not read any specifics on

diabetes. If it really works partially by decreasing peroxynitrite

(one of the most damaging free radicals) as proposed by one doc at

the conference, it makes sense that elderly people would benefit even

if they have no diagnosed autoimmune disease.

All the elderly people in my life are over 84 but doing very poorly.

Maybe they'd be doing better if they had tried LDN at 84!

She seems to have the need of getting a better immune system. She gets

so ill every autumn, winter and spring when she gets colds. She sure

could need the immune system to work better. She has high bp. And

takes meds for this. Is it safe to use LDN while on bp meds?
