Guest guest
I know I read about this before, but I could not find it by searching. My husband will be traveling from Israel to the USA. There is a 7 hour difference in time (Israel is 7 hours earlier). He will be in the States nearly 6 weeks. What time should he take LDN while traveling? Does the body switch over over a period of time to when it releases endorphins or immediately? Thanks! Katya
Guest guest
Hi : , > I guess I just want opinions on a decision I'm trying to make. My husband and I were thinking of going to Florida for 3 days over my 30th birthday at the end of May. I'm having a hard time with deciding wheather or not to do this. I really want to go but I know I will not be perfect for these 3 days. **** It seems a shame not to celebrate your birthday in Florida because you are afraid you can't stick to the diet. With a little planning, it can be easy. I plan on bringing all my supplements ***Great, wrap them in foil and pack them in your luggage. I just take packets of my daily doses already sorted. but I know I will cheat on the diet with possibly some wine or vodka and while eating out. *** You can change that voice in your head by saying to yourself " What would it be like if I stayed on the diet while in Florida? " or " What would it be like if I was free from alcohol during my birthday trip? " or something that creates a positive picture of how you could be in Florida. ***You might be by the beach, and enjoy that, and maybe treat yourself to a birthday massage...or a delicious steak dinner, or lobster in butter... etc. There are many things besides alcohol that can make your trip special and celebratory. Also, I always get a bottle of sparkling mineral water when I dine out and put lemon or lime slices in it. This feels like a special drink. > I know there are ideas to pack some food and go to a grocery store there but I'm thinking at least one meal for 3 days will be an " off diet " meal. I don't know what to do! Thoughts or opinions? *** There's no reason to eat off-diet, really. They have tons of fish, shrimp and lobster.... eat that with melted butter. Pour melted butter over steamed vegetables. Eat steak... guacamole off the spoon. You just have to pick the right restaurants. Don't eat bread and don't have dessert... let your hubby know that's what you want to do at meals so he won't be surprised or offer you things. Bring your seasalt to every restaurant. ***Pack hard boiled eggs, jerky, and make Bee's egg drink in your room. All you need is hot water... you can keep eggs , butter and coconut oil out... don't need a fridge. Bring small bag of spices and some stevia. Buy the eggs and butter there. You can shake the egg drink like crazy and it will be blended.... bring a lidded jar or thermos in your luggage. Make electrolyte drink in a water bottle and take it with you everywhere. Make properly prepared nuts, like walnuts as a snack. Bring your own plane meal. *** You can do this easily if you change your thinking about it. Don't think you are being forced to cheat, or that you are a prisoner to the diet and can't go anywhere.. this is the power of your own mind and it's not really " true " , it just feels true right now because you are new to the diet and still dealing with all the changes you've made. Hope you have a happy, happy birthday! Marissa ( a group moderator)
Guest guest
Thanks Vicki. This helps a lot. I don't want to stop living my life because of this diet but sometimes it can just be a little overwhelming. Thanks again for your insight...I think I will live a little and take the trip and do what I can to avoid cheating! It's possible to travel, have fun, eat well, and stick pretty close to the diet. I travelled for two weeks on my first month of the diet. We allowed some very low carb cheats for convenience and fitting in (cheese, non soaked nuts, etc). I found we didn't get all our fats in on the road, though, but tried to put as much butter on food as possible. Unfortunately, if you are going to cheat there may be consequences (which may ruin your trip). Been there, done that. Maybe taking lots of Vitamin C as you cheat will help avoid them. I say travel when you have the chance and cheat as little as possible. Bon Voyage! Vicki
Guest guest
Wow...thanks for all the ideas Marisa. This is so helpful. I guess I just am very hesitant to travel because it seems like everytime I even go out to dinner at a restaurant where I live I always seem to have a reaction. For example I ordered a steak and asked for no oils, no salt or pepper with steamed broccoli. I brought my own coconut oil and my supplements then. That's it...but within a few hours I felt sick and so I'm sure there was something in the food, (maybe even cause it wasn't organic but sometimes I eat non organic at home and don't have a reaction). But...what I need to do is look at it like I can do the best I can without just planning to cheat. Thanks again for all these tips and looks like I have some planning to do! **** It seems a shame not to celebrate your birthday in Florida because you are afraid you can't stick to the diet. Guest guest
We plan to go on our first trip since being on this diet. It is a car trip and I was thinking maybe I can make one egg drink for each 4 days and freeze them and keep in a cooler w/ice for the drive and take out one each the night before. Anyone ever try to freeze Bee's egg drink? Another option is to make a huge amount, but wondering how long it can last if left in the fridge/cooler. Could it last up to 4 days? A final option I thought of is bring a hand blender instead of an entire blender and that could work if you bring eggs, co, butter and filtered water, spices, sea salt and a large jar. Thanks...perfect timing for this subject! S. > > Hi : > , > > I guess I just want opinions on a decision I'm trying to make. Anyone ever try to freeze Bee's egg drink? +++Hi . No, I haven't tried freezing the egg drink. In any case it will separate so that the liquids are on the bottom and the rest on the top, so it will have to be thawed out completely and then stirred well. > > Another option is to make a huge amount, but wondering how long it can last if left in the fridge/cooler. Guest guest
Hei all, thanks for this discussion!! I am always scared just to go out and mainly eat just salad with olive oil as I am afraid of getting reactions...and I will be in th US for 2 weeks in fall and will try to make everything allright, so your tipps are really helpful. But one of the reasons I hardly eat meats when going out is for example that I have no clue which fat they use for frying, and that most make them on one big stove, so even when you say " no spices " it can always be that you get traces of some sort of ready made grill mix or whatever. Am I paranoid with that? Is once in a while eating something fried in bad fgats and containing bad salt or MSG or whatever not a big deal when I normally stick totally to the diet? There are so many people talking about little cheats, but I am so afraid of loosing the little progress my body is making... Thank you all!! Am I paranoid with that? +++Hi Tina. Ask for olive oil and lemons for salads at restaurants, or take your own salad dressing with you, which is what I do. +++You may be too paranoid, since a small amount of bad oils or fats or grill mix isn't going to do a lot of damage, and it is more important to eat the meats to get their nutrients. Is once in a while eating something fried in bad fgats and containing bad salt or MSG or whatever not a big deal when I normally stick totally to the diet? There are so many people talking about little cheats, but I am so afraid of loosing the little progress my body is making... +++You won't lose the progress you are making if you don't have those substances very often, since the nutrients you are getting are still doing their job. Avoid bad salt by taking your own sea salt with you. All the best, Bee

The spices or stevia seem to change and it is less yummy...still totally drinkable... but less yummy. Or maybe my thermos affects it somehow? ***Anyway, I think making it on the road with some hot water, or thawing out your frozen version might taste best. But again, maybe a huge batch kept in glass (rather than thermos) might taste okay. Try making one or two the way you plan to use it on the road trip and drink it the next day just make sure the taste is okay.
