Guest guest
that sounds like a backwards view. if LDN orchestrates ones immune system, then the mood is a Result, not a Cause My mood doesn't keep 6 years of MRI's Static. NO PROGRESSION IN 6 YEARS has nothing to do with how I Feel. how absurd [low dose naltrexone] Emotions & LDN HI All,purusing a great website 'thisisms'....found this...have been mostly watching your posts...sounds like LDN is a mood elevator...perhaps thats the reason it appears to be working for so many...Over the years, Jonez learned that allergic reactions from emotional upsets were as likely to bring on attacks and relapses as allergic reactions to foods or chemicals. He concluded that histamine relieved symptoms not only by dilating blood vessels, but also by stimulating the body's defenses against stress. Eight years later, the truth of this for Clinic patients was so clear that Dr. Hess stated: Through the stimulation of the general adaptive mechanism of the body, corticosteroids and the other defenses against stress are measurably increased. This effect of histamine leads one to conjecture whether multiple sclerosis might be better classified as a stress disease.... Many of our patients relate the onset of their disease or its exacerbations to a traumatic experience or an emotional upset, and for such of our Clinic cases, we use the term 'emotional allergy.' Guest guest
Hi Larry, i'm not attacking your interpretation of how it works for you...personally...even though i've had symptoms of MS for years...i didn't have a any idea i had it til this year when they all exploded on me during an extreme emotional crisis...since then, i've noticed things like tremors become grossly exagerated when i'm in a stressful situation...just wondering what people thought of it...it's from an abstract of something like 40 yrs ago from the mayo clinic... truly, jack > > > that sounds like a backwards view. > > if LDN orchestrates ones immune system, then the mood is a Result, not a Cause > > My mood doesn't keep 6 years of MRI's Static. > > NO PROGRESSION IN 6 YEARS has nothing to do with how I Feel. > > how absurd > [low dose naltrexone] Emotions & LDN > > > > HI All, > > purusing a great website 'thisisms'....found this...have been mostly > watching your posts...sounds like LDN is a mood elevator...perhaps > thats the reason it appears to be working for so many... > > > Over the years, Jonez learned that allergic reactions from emotional > upsets were as likely to bring on attacks and relapses as allergic > reactions to foods or chemicals. Guest guest
Stress definitely does people in, sure, but that has nothing to do with LDN, per se. Allergies trigger, too. Cocoa has triggered most of my attacks, prior to LDN. I happened to go for a full allergy test workup Feb/Mar 2003, a month before starting LDN. I went back for the same tests Sept 2007 and all my food allergies are GONE. Some of my Environmental reactions are gone too. Haven't had a cold since 2003, and had one bout of something, Jan 9-15 this year which gave me a 101 fever. Still, LDN does not make me Feel good. It orchestrated the immune system, everything else is a result of that. Welcome to the group Hope it works for you too [low dose naltrexone] Emotions & LDN> > > > HI All,> > purusing a great website 'thisisms'....found this...have been mostly > watching your posts...sounds like LDN is a mood elevator...perhaps > thats the reason it appears to be working for so many...> > > Over the years, Jonez learned that allergic reactions from emotional > upsets were as likely to bring on attacks and relapses as allergic > reactions to foods or chemicals. Guest guest
If you would like to research more in depth on the HOW / WHY of the immune system response to stress and the role that " neuropeptides " (ie; endorphins)have in the response....check this book out. It's a graduate level textbook; Neuropeptides: Regulators of Physiological Processes This link is to the google-books preview feature of the book; http://books.google.com/books?id=PNPU0sknfCUC & printsec=frontcover & dq=Neuropeptid\ es#PPA141,M1 Best wishes, Jann
