Well, I do know that someone I know had a tough time after surgery to insert a

baclofen pump, and before that meniscal knee surgery, but did not suffer any

long term additional disabilities, but it really knocked them for a loop for a

number of weeks.

I assumed that it was the anesthetic but I really do not know. Even people

without chronic illness sometimes have weeks of effect from anesthesia. I'll be

looking into this, and also asking one of my pals that is an anesthesiologist.

In this case, wouldn't a spinal be better? This is what I had......

I, too, had severe reactions to anesthesia after thyroid surgery in 1993, and hand surgery to repair tendons in 2003. Both times I also had what doctors called a " severe inflammatory reaction " in the surgical sites, folowed by severe exacerbations of my MS. I would be interested in what Bob has to say when he returns from vacation.

At any rate, both experiences caused me to decide to never again have surgery for any reason, even to save my life. I won't go through that again for any reason.

Thanks for sharing this.
