Guest guest
Hi RT, I've not experienced those symptoms nor have I read of anyone else having them -- which may or may NOT mean anything. My autoimmune flavors are Hashi's and vitiligo which aren't specifically neurologically based. Personally, I think I would have my doctor check for a urinary or kidney infection -- just to be sure...especially if you are running a fever. That urgency feeling can't be pleasant. I wouldn't think these symptoms would be related to the LDN. It sounds like you approached LDN just fine -- starting out low at 1.5mg then building up to the 3mg. Let us know what you figure out. Best wishes, Jann
Guest guest
Hi, The symptoms you are having may or may not be due to LDN. I take LDN for MS. The tummy problems could very well be due to something else unrelated. Bladder urgency can be a part of MS. You could try stopping the LDN for 1 or 2 nights and see how the symptoms go then start LDN again. Maybe go back to 1.5mg then up it again. It may be the filler, not common but possible. If you do have MS it can take several months before you see any improvement in symptoms. The idea of the LDN is to stop progression, symptom improvement is a bonus. Guest guest
Introductory Side-effects: There may be some initial transient, though temporary, increase in MS symptoms during the adaptive period when the LDN is first introduced. This usually lasts no more than one week but if symptoms are severe, or more prolonged, then the initial dose of 1.5 for a month, 3 for a month, then 4.5 until the anticipated improvements begin to develop. Introductory symptoms, on starting this treatment, may include such as disturbed sleep, occasionally with vivid, bizarre and disturbing dreams, tiredness, fatigue, spasm and pain. Symptoms related to increased endorphins: These may include such as nausea or constipation. These symptoms diminish naturally as the body adjusts to the increased endorphin level. Symptoms related to previous Opiate use: On starting LDN the recent use of opiate analgesics will result in an opiate withdrawal syndrome, with increased pain, spasm, vomiting and diarrhea. These symptoms may be prevented by stopping all opiate analgesics at least two weeks before starting the LDN. Introductory LDN Symptoms For those of you in the first 3 months of LDN therapy Dr. Bob Lawrence from the UK who has MS & uses LDN himself explains why the temporary increase in MS symptoms. When starting this LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) therapy in the treatment of MS, there may also be some initial transient, though temporary, increase in MS symptoms. Experience in using this method has demonstrated most commonly, such as disturbed sleep, occasionally with vivid, bizarre and disturbing dreams, tiredness, fatigue, spasm and pain. These increased symptoms would not normally be expected to last more than seven to ten days.Rarely, other transient symptoms have included more severe pain and spasm, headache, diarrhea or vomiting. These additional symptoms would appear to be associated with the previous frequent use of strong analgesics, which effectively create an addiction and dependency, thus increasing the body's sensitivity to pain. This temporary increase in symptoms may also perhaps be explained when we consider the manner in which this drug is expected to work.Initially, MS occurs due to a reduction in the activity of the controlling influence of the suppressor T-cells within the immune system. During an acute relapse, the overall number of T-cells is reduced, the normal balance of helper T-cells and suppressor T-cells is disrupted and the damaging helper (CD-4) T-cells tend to predominate. This is the situation most pronounced during an acute relapse but occurs similarly, but to a lesser extent, in chronic progressive MS. Under the influence of LDN there will be an expected increase in the overall numbers of T-cells but, because the CD-4, helper T-cells tend to predominate at this time, an increase in their numbers will expectedly tend to increase MS symptoms. It is only when the numbers of suppressor T-cells effectively "catch up" that the normal balance is restored and symptoms once again diminish and improve. In addition, because LDN stimulates the immune system and many of the drugs routinely used by the NHS in the treatment of MS further suppress the immune system, LDN cannot be used in company with steroids, beta interferon, methotrexate, azathioprine or mitozantrone or any other immune suppressant drug. If there is any doubt, please submit a full list of the drugs you are presently taking so that their compatibility may be assessed. In addition, because LDN will also block the analgesic effects of any opiate drugs (includes codeine, dihydrocodeine, morphine, pethidine or diamorphine) presently being taken, the use of LDN will initially greatly increase the level of pain experienced. It is therefore advisable that any opiate-like drugs be discontinued at least two weeks before this treatment is initiated. When starting the treatment it is essential that any untoward or adverse side-effects are reported immediately so that the treatment process can be further assessed and, if necessary, modified. Hello,I am new to this group and see a wealth of wisdom, so I am hoping you can help me a little as I journey into the LDN treatment. Thank you in advance for your time. I have undiagnosed neurological symptoms (4 years) with a high possibility of them to be MS. My neurologist wants to wait and see, but the symptoms are increasing and I would like to take an active approach and help myself asap. With that I have attended an LDN Conference in L.A. on October 11 and immediately following this conference, on Oct. 17 I have started with 1.5 mg of LDN. Had no side effects and no improvements. A month later, on Nov. 16, I have gone to 3 mg of LDN and four days after increasing my dose I began experiencing some symptoms which are not listed in the common side effects. I have had three nights of abdominal pain, nausea and cramps followed by a very loose stool and a great urgency to go to the bathroom. Also some blood spotting and great urgency to urinate. Now my bowel is getting better, but the urgency to urinate is increasing. The abdominal pain, slight nausea and crapms come and go. I am not sure what to do. i get my LDN from Skip's Pharmacy with Avicel filler. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Have you heard of these type of symptoms while starting LDN? Should I keep taking 3 mg and see what happens? Please help.Warmly,RT

I am one. change your filler or get the liquid without filler. I started having two menses cycles a month on LDN. Some of us have had menses increase. The frequent urination could be LDN pulling fluid off you, it did this with my grandma and subsided after about 7 days. Keep watch. Get skip to send you liquid LDN to see if the filler is causing problems. , LDN user 5 years for MS
Guest guest
Thank you all for your responses. It looks like I have a UTI and have started antibiotics this evening. I have never had UTI, so not sure if this was brought on by LDN or unrelated. Will contact Dr. Skip tomorrow, but for now I will continue with 3mg and see what happens. Thanks again and please let me know if you have any further advice. > > Nausea has been associated with the capsule filler, avicel, in a small > percentage of users. > > may wish to add her experience on this. > > You could request and try a different filler, > kind regards, > Cris > > 11a. Haven't had a UTI since. For those who have illnesses that cranberry would be dangerous do not use cranberry. There are diseases where cranberry is not good. If you are using antibiotics take plenty of probiotics.
