Guest guest
Strange. I have Hashi, Sarcoid and APS (hyper clotting autoimmune disease). I have been on 4.5mg LDN for almost 2 months, had my thyroid levels checked about 1 month ago and have NOT needed to lower synthroid meds. I have been on 50 mcg and still am. Everyone is different I guess. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and will be asking my Dr to place me on LDN in a week. I understand that a very low dose of 1.5 mg should be started...and thyroid meds adjusted as the healing begins. If anyone has any experience with this please let me know. Thank you, Karla
Guest guest
Hi Liz, RE: NOT needing to lower your THR (thyroid meds) When a thyroid folk begins LDN therapy it may cause a reduction in these antibodies that block TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) receptors. Because theses receptors are now able to 'process' more hormones it may be necessary to reduce the THR (thyroid hormone replacement) meds. That's the theory that I'm using for what happened to me when I first started LDN and was taking my usual THR dose. Within a little over 2wks I felt the hyper-like symptoms of being over medicated -- which is NOT a pleasant feeling. Freaked me out because at that time I didn't understand what was happening. My heart was pounding, I couldn't sit still at 10pm at night after being up since 4-5am because of the LDN sleep disturbance -- and I lost 10lbs in just a few days time. Did you happen to benchmark your TPO (thyroid antibodies) before starting LDN so that you could compare? Just curious to see if you've seen a drop in your antibodies too --??-- Best wishes, Jann
Guest guest
Hi Liz, The group noticed some early signs thyroid medication may need adjustment after commencing LDN (see posts copied below). Hypercoagulation is a new variable though ... so just thinking out loud ... maybe it slows or hinders absorption and in so doing, offsets the risk. Thanks for sharing your experience, Cris casehealth.com.au [low dose naltrexone] LDN in Hashimoto's Thyroid Hi I am new to this forum.
