KNOWLEDGEABLE ADVICE PLEASE! Rheumatoid Arthritis and LDN

PLEASE, KNOWLEDGEABLE ADVICE NEEDED….

I have rheumatoid arthritis and have been considering doing LDN

but noticed that

on the list of drugs you cannot take if you start LDN … every vital drug

I take to treat my RA is

on that list: Methotrexate, Humira, Plaquenil, etc.

So, what does one do…. The main reason I want to do the

LDN is to elevate my BETA ENDORPHINS.

I know my levels are anemic and know I need those endorphin

levels in my blood stream.

My Rheumatologist hated the idea when I mentioned it to her saying

that the last thing in the world I want to do

is BOOST your IMMUNE SYSTEM … and said I should know better.

I understand that all the treatment I have intentionally weakens

the immune system … and this is a completely new approach

which if it works to strengthen my immune system could cause my RA to really

flare up.

I need someone knowledgeable to help answer my questions here …

thank you.

Remicade

surppresses the immune system where LDN Boosts your immune system so where they

do the opposite of each other then they will work against each other. I just

found this article on WebMD.com about Remicade.

New Remicade Warning

Arthritis,

Crohn's Disease Drug Linked to Rare but Deadly Liver Failure

By J. DeNoon

WebMD Health News

Dec. 23, 2004 --

Remicade is linked to rare but sometimes deadly liver reactions, drug maker Centocor

and the FDA announced Wednesday.

Remicade is approved

to treat rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease.

In a " Dear

Healthcare Professional " letter, Centocor is warning doctors that patients

treated with Remicade have developed acute liver failure and other liver

problems, including jaundice.

Some patients died

or required liver transplants to save their lives. The liver reactions occurred

two weeks to more than a year after Remicade treatment. Lab tests for abnormal

liver enzymes -- a standard test for liver trouble -- did not always predict

these liver reactions.

These events appear

to be quite rare. They've been reported in three patients before Remicade

approval, and in 35 patients worldwide since the drug has been approved. In

that time, some 576,000 patients have been treated with Remicade.

Remicade works by

suppressing the immune system. That's helpful to patients whose overactive

immune reactions underlie their rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, or

ankylosing spondylitis. But it can also be a problem. Remicade treatment has

been previously linked to serious infections including tuberculosis. Some of

these infections have been fatal.

The Centocor letter

also notes that a warning about risk of pneumonia has been added to the

Remicade label.

Liver Failure Symptoms

Patients taking

Remicade should be aware of symptoms of liver damage or failure, which include:

Nausea

Loss

of appetite

Fatigue

Diarrhea

Jaundice

I, too, am on remicade. I just started LDN 3 days

ago. According to my doctor and the compounding pharmacist there shoud

be no problem with the two together. The LDN should enhance the immune

system. What I am reading on the forum is a bit troubling as it

sounds like the two do not mix well.

I have a similar situation in

which Remicade is not lasting the full 8

weeks. I'm going to wait until Remicade stops working and I start

getting symptoms, then I'll start the LDN. This will give me

positive, immediate feedback if the LDN works. If not, no harm done,

as LDN has less side effects than aspirin.
