BACKGROUND: Family Health International (FHI) is implementing the Aastha (“To care about”) project in Mumbai and Thane districts of Maharashtra as part of the India AIDS Initiative (Avahan) of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project aims to reduce the incidence of HIV and STIs among sex workers and their partners through strategic behavior communication (SBC), condom provision and STI services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To ensure technical quality of HIV/STI interventions under the FHI Aastha project through setting of standards, training, accreditation, quality assurance and clinical monitoring and evaluation. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist Technical Manager to provide technical support for Targeted interventions supported by FHI, MSACS & , MDACS; Provide direct technical assistance and build capacity of physicians, nurses, outreach workers and peer educators; Work with implementing partners (NGOs) to ensure quality delivery of STI preventive and care services with sex workers; Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, implement and manage STI operations; Conduct assessments, provide training and regular technical support and coordinate activities to ensure compliance with treatment strategies and on-going quality assurance; Provide technical assistance on quality assurance monitoring systems; · Design technical and program management support to NGO and government partners in STI management and approaches; · Provide periodic STI state-of-the-art updates to the FHI Aastha team; and Perform other duties as assigned by Director, Maharashtra Program and Technical Manager, Aastha. EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Masters in Public Health Post graduate Degree of Diploma in Medicine Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine (MBBS) COMPENSATION: This is not an expatriate position. No expatriate benefits or allowances provided. Compensation levels at FHI are equivalent to market rates within the development sector.
