Guest guest
As a fellow " Lymie " , this has been one heck of a ride. Lyme disease must be one of the biblical horsemen! It was originally discovered in Lyme Connecticut (CT) in the 1970s. I think the " S " in LymeS is a possesive S for Lyme'S. A peer reviewed paper from Poland had documented Lyme in mosquitoes. The bacteria that causes this is a spirochete that is very similar to syphilis. That would at least imply that Lyme could be sexually transmitted. Lyme disease is also associated with Lupus, fibromyalgia, Parkison's, Alzheimer's, MS, and more. Lyme is transmitted amongst family members, expecially mother to child via the umbilical cord. Fellow Lymies have commented that their spouses eventually start getting Lyme symptoms. My MS to Lyme voyage took several physicians eight (8) years, and multiple MS drugs. Finally, I realized my disease was not like everyone elses, spent time studying in the library, figured out it was Lyme, the hired an out of state competent Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD). In March 08 I was diagnosed with Lyme and started antibiotics. The initial few months of startup has been the " valley of the shadow of death " . Just moments ago, my plumber said I look much better now than in May 08. :-) For a 5 min 30 sec trailer for the Lyme documentary " Under Our Skin " : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxWgS0XLVqw & For a 20 minute compilation of Lyme news casts: http://vimeo.com/2354218 > > As one with chronic Lyme disease, you are right Art.
