Guest guest
As one with chronic Lyme disease, you are right Art. The correct name is " Lyme disease " in which the name did originate from the town of Lyme CO. It is usually written Lyme (capitol L) disease (small d). Some interesting facts: The bacteria that causes Lyme disease is from the genus Borrelia. In the United States the actual bacteria that causes Lyme disease is Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb). In Europe and other countries Lyme disese is caused by other species of Borrelia. BTW It doesn't have to be from just the deer tick. As I mentioned before the bacteria does not single out just deer ticks. Also there have been proven other vectors of transmission of Lyme disease besides ticks (fleas, horseflies etc) but real proof of transmission by them is scanty. Some swear Lyme disease is also sexually transmitted. My concern is that it is in the blood supply. We are advised not to donate blood as Lyme disease is not tested for in the blood supply.
