My neighbor has rheumatoid arthritis (RA) quite badly. Several years

ago she started antibiotic therapy for it. For several years she did

quite well. Now she is not walking well and attributes that to her

not addressing the problem with antibiotics for 18 years or so.

RA, as well as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, fibromyalgia, MS, and other

diseases are also associated with Lyme disease. I was diagnosed with

optic neuritis, then MS, and took Rebif, Copaxone, then LDN for a year

or so. Finally I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and started

antibiotic therapy in March 08. It's been the " valley of the shadow

of death " . Now, finally, after 8 months on the antibiotics I'm

beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Ginny,

I don't think pinning a doctor down to make a decision about a therapy

they're not familiar with will be very productive. What you want to

do is get your doctor into conversation about their openness to

alternative / off-label therapies. Then say that you've been made

aware of this therapy...and that you're very intrigued...and that you

have the information for his / her review...etc etc

What I did was print some of the pertinent info from the LDN org

website...just a 1/2 page worth and included the URL. I also printed

the URL from the podcast between 'Skip' the pharmacist and Dr Hoffman,

who has radio health program. I asked my [family] doctor if she

would review the info and let me know what she thought -- she called

me a few days later and said that if I wanted to try LDN she would

prescribe.

However....maybe YOUR doctor is already familiar with LDN...?? You

shouldn't be afraid to bring up the topic though. If your doctor is

familiar with LDN and still doesn't want to prescribe....ask for

specific reasons WHY ?? ...and then respond to the answers.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Best wishes to you,

Jann

Hi Ginny,

welcome to this group!

It's really important that you bring with some good and serious info to your neuro to convince him that this medication may help you. IF you have RA LDN may be the best treatment for you. Just remember that LDN is not a cure, but you may feel far less pain while on it. Just remember that you are not allowed to use narcotic pain meds with LDN.

Go to Crystals site to read what papers to bring with to your doctor:

Good luck!!
