Guest guest
So far I have had 3 contrasting MRI’s to see if it is growing, they normally are very slow growing and usually benign, but without surgical removal there is no way to tell. I have had a lot of blood work done to see if it is a secreting tumor, or a suppressing tumor (suppressing) as far as they can tell. Chemical/radiation/laser is all very iffy as it can do more damage than good and if they get any of the good tissue and or the pituitary it can really cause more damage then good. So far my Endo hasn’t really had too much to say or much info which I find very frustrating, the old let’s watch and see seems to be their course of action and surgery if it starts growing fast. One of the reasons I am taking LDN though is to perhaps shrink or totally remove the tumor – but there seems to be more info on LDN working with cancerous tumors, or maybe it is just that non-cancerous ones are not mentioned??? Either way, since it is helping in other directions, I figure it couldn’t hurt my situation, A good deal of the population have pituitary tumors, they just were not found until an autopsy was done because they weree too hard to see until more power MRI’s were made available. It was almost a relief when they found it, explained so much of the thyroid/adrenal/hormonal problems…….. I just can’t seem to get a doctor to tell me one way or the other if it could be responsible for the sleep problems. It does make dealing with my thyroid very difficult as blood work comes back saying I am hyper when I am hypo – this is a classic symptom of a pituitary tumor, especially once thyroid medication was lowered to half the dose and the blood work came back showing thyroid hormone was even more suppressed and that I was even more hyper, well according to labs anyway – but of course I was not. The pituitary is really one of the main “conductors” of the body – it dictates ALL hormones I think, reproductive, endocrine system, growth and prolactin. SeaLady What are your doctors suggesting to do for this pituitary tumor ? Do they have a plan / therapy to shrink it ?
